Kids become the most active during summer season and indeed it should be a season of uninterrupted masti for them. But the dangers of dehydration and nutrient loss are always there as the mercury keeps soaring high. While you may remind them to drink copious amounts of water, they may be too busy ignoring your advice as they want something delicious to gulp down. Giving them colas or artificially flavoured drinks should be a complete no-no as it just doesn’t serve the purpose and only increases the count of empty calories. So if your kids are bored of drinking lemonade and glucose water, try these tangy drinks to cool them off.

De-seed and make the pulp of a watermelon. Now filter it to remove the solids. When you have the juice ready, add lemon juice, sugar, and salt as per taste. You can also add a dash of mint juice to it for a refreshing flavour. You can keep this chilled for a few days and give your kids a small glass every day before they go out to play. An Agua Fresca is a light beverage made with fruits, cereals, flowers or seeds mixed with water and sugar. For a mango agua fresca all you need to do is make a mango pulp in a blender and mix it with adequate amount of water and sugar for a thin consistency. Add the sugar and a pinch of salt depending on the ripeness and variety of the mango as its natural sweetness may vary. Kids who find a milkshake too thick for their liking will surely love the mango agua fresca and it is way better than the artificial mango drinks available in the market. Similarly you can make agua fresco using pineapple juice, strawberry juice, cucumber+mint juice or watermelon.
