Yash Raj Films' Alpha Gets Release Date: Cast, Cameos, And Other Interesting Details

Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Munjya star Sharvari, has finally got a release date. Yash Raj Films (YRF), the producer backing this project, announced on social media on Friday that the much-awaited spy film will hit theaters on December 25, 2025. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the seventh installment in YRF's Spy Universe and reportedly the first female-led spy film in Bollywood. The filming is on, as stated by YRF's website.

Alpha To Have Stellar Cameos By Multiple Superstars

Makers have decided to release Alpha in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Created by producer and YRF scion Aditya Chopra, the movie will also feature Anil Kapoor as the head of R&AW (Research and Analysis Wing). He will be introduced in War 2, led by Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and Jr. NTR as a probable dreaded antagonist.

To release on August 15, 2025, War 2, helmed by Ayan Mukerji, will establish Bhatt's Alpha character in the post-credits, thus connecting her with YRF's previous spy outings. To bolster the link, Alpha might have a cameo by Roshan's War character, Major Kabir Dhaliwal. It's said that Kabir will be a mentor to Bhatt's character.

Meanwhile, Bobby Deol will be the villain and have a high-octane action sequence with Sharvari's character in his very first appearance in the film.

Like Marvel movies and series, the YRF spyverse is following a cross-appearance factor. This means the lead actors of their spy films get featured in each other's movies. For example, Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan's RAW agent character Pathaan were seen in Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan. Likewise, Salman appeared in 'Pathaan,' so Roshan's reported cameo in Alpha is not surprising. Further, both Salman and SRK are poised to get cameos in War 2 and Alpha. This makes sense as after War 2 and Alpha, YRF plans to bring out Pathaan 2 and the ultimate Tiger vs Pathaan.

While Pathaan will hit the shooting floors by 2024-end with a scheduled release in 2026, Tiger vs Pathaan will take flight after that.

Alpha Was Filmed In Kashmir Recently, Said Reports

Earlier, the Alpha team wrapped up a schedule in Mumbai and then headed to Kashmir from August end to the early week of September this year. The Deol-Sharvari fight sequence was filmed in Kashmir only, reports said. Gushing about her association with the film, Sharvari told Bollywood Hungama, "It's very motivating because when you're such a young actor, and you know that the spy universe has always been helmed by these big superstars, it gives me a lot of motivation to work really hard."

While Sharvari was last seen in Vedaa and Munjya, Bhatt's last films were Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Heart of Stone. She has Jigra up for release on October 11, 2024.
