Sanya Malhotra has dropped the teaser of her upcoming ‘Mrs’, and it has already sparked conversation around the role of women in a household. The good news is it is going to premiere at the 27th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

What Is the Tallinn Film Festival?

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival or PÖFF is an annual and only film festival in Northern Europe that celebrates cinema around the globe. It stands with 14 non-specialised competitive film festivals in the world, including Cannes, San Sebastian, Berlin, and Venice.

It was started in 1997 and showcased only Nordic films. Gradually, it spread its wings to cover other cinemas from across the world. In 2015, at least 600 films were screened during the festival. According to reports, it employs more than 300 volunteers to help with selling tickets, disseminating information at work desks, escorting delegations, etc.

In 2023, the festival commenced on November 3, 2023, and it will continue till November 19, 2023. It will showcase hundreds of films across genres and languages, including Hindi, English, French, German, Italian, and Chinese.

Radhika Madan To Join Jury At The Tallinn Film Festival

The good news for all of Radhika Madan’s fans is that she will be joining the jury of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2023. In 2022, she was a part of the festival to promote her film ‘Sanaa’. According to the Times Entertainment, the actor said, “I’m honoured to be a part of this diverse and talented jury at Tallinn Film Festival. It’s a global celebration of cinema, and I’m excited to contribute my perspective to this incredible panel of judges.”

The actor will be a part of the bench of judges, including Diana Ilijane from Germany, Ron Fogel from Israel, and Ran Huang from China. Nicolas Celis Lopez from Mexico will be heading the jury.

Sanya Malhotra’s ‘Mrs’ Highlights Stereotypical Gender Roles In A Household

On November 8, 2023, Sanya Malhotra shared the teaser of ‘Mrs’ in which she was spotted acing the role of a stereotypical daughter-in-law despite her husband and father-in-law complaining. She loves to dance and participate in cultural events, however, despite all her wishes, her life revolves around taking care of her family, serving her husband hot and fluffy chapatis, and preparing hundreds of dishes at events or when the guests arrive.

A prominent scene in the film shows Sanya’s character, Richa, touching the feet of her husband. Later in the kitchen, he told her that she had to adhere to the rules of his family and home. Richa reverts, “Or else, what can you do?”

The film highlights how despite living in the 21st century and calling ourselves progressive, we still see the role of a woman as cleaning after her husband and kids, cooking delicacies for the family, serving hot piping meals on the table, and leaving all her dreams behind. It would be interesting to see how Rich will break the boundaries of her household to follow her dreams and build individuality.
