Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' is going head-to-head with Prabhas' 'Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire' at the box office. Both films are scheduled to hit theatres on December 22, 2023. Initially, 'Salaar' was slated for a release on September 28, 2023. However, the movie has faced yet another postponement, and now there are expectations that it will make its debut on Christmas. It's important to note that there hasn't been an official confirmation from the 'Salaar' team regarding this change as of now.

Interestingly, this isn't Shah Rukh Khan's first tango with a bollywood box office clash. He has previously been part of and even triumphed in such film face-offs. Back in 2015, just before the Christmas and New Year festivities, his movie ‘Dilwale’ went head-to-head with ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ It's worth noting that in the Indian market, the Dunki actor may have faced a setback, but on a global scale, ‘Dilwale’ held an advantage, grossing Rs. 394 crores compared to ‘Bajirao Mastani's’ 367 crores.

Another intense showdown at the box office was witnessed when ‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ went head-to-head. It was quite surprising to see Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, who are known to be close friends, competing against each other. In the end, ‘Raees’ emerged victorious in this clash, raking in a gross of Rs. 287.71 crores, while ‘Kaabil’ secured Rs. 209.50 crores in gross earnings.

On the other hand, director Om Raut's highly anticipated film, 'Adipurush,' failed to work its magic at the box office. Despite its immense buzz, Prabhas' 'Adipurush' hit theatres in multiple languages but struggled to maintain its momentum after the opening weekend. While the film did manage to cross the Rs. 450 crore mark globally, trade reports suggest that it hasn't been profitable in many regions. This figure is notably low, considering that 'Adipurush' was made on a colossal budget of Rs. 500 crore.
