‘Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire’ is a Telugu action-thriller released on December 22, 2023, only a day after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’. Starring Prabhas as the lead, the cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Tinnu Anand, Prithviraj, Sriya Reddy, Shruti Haasan, and others.

Production Of ‘Salaar’ Began During COVID-19

In the mid of August 2020, the pre-production of the film began, at least rumours were floating around that Prabhas had approached Prashanth Neel, director of ‘Salaar’. In December, the official announcement was made that the two legends will be working together on a project.
The muhuratam ceremony was organised in January 2021 in the presence of the entire cast to begin the shooting. In 2023, Neel’s production house gave fans good news that the movie will be a two-part series.
Prashanth Neel Casted Prabhas In ‘Salaar’ For His Innocence
In an old interview, Neel said that he was drawn to Prabhas for his innocence. “Prabhas exudes more innocence compared to most other actors. To draw out his innocence and show it on the screen will be fantastic,” the director was quoted saying.
The film showcases Prabhas in a violent role, which he has never played before.
The production house announced Shruti Haasan playing her part in ‘Salaar’ on her birthday. Reportedly, the actor charged ₹8 crores for playing Aadhya.
Filming Of ‘Salaar’ Completed In Two Years

The filming of the first schedule of ‘Salaar’ reportedly began on January 27, 2021. The second schedule was filmed in August 2021. The filming came to a halt in March 2022 for a brief time after Prabhas had to undergo knee surgery.
The final schedule of ‘Salaar’ was filmed in late February 2023. It took almost two years to complete the movie. Taking to social media, Haasan shared that she had wrapped up her part of the shooting on February 23, 2023.

Working On VFX Complete In Six Months
Not only did filming take time, but producer Vijay Kiragandur said in an interview in December 2022 that working, finessing, and finalising the VFX took six months. The post-production part of ‘Salaar’ was completed in a village in Karnataka to composer Basrur’s studio to prevent leaks in the editing, composing, and finalising phase.
Till September 2023, at least 600 VFX shots were pending due to which the release date was shifted to December 2023.

Teaser Of ‘Salaar’ Broke All Records
On July 6, 2023, the teaser of ‘Salaar’ was released on YouTube and shared on social media platforms. Reportedly, it garnered 83 million views within 24 hours, a record that no other Indian movie has made.

‘Salaar’ is a story about two friends, Deva and Varadharaja Mannaar. While they were inseparable as kids, when the story fast forwards, the two of them have turned into enemies. As the movie oscillates between past and present, you will be hooked to your seat to know what had happened between two friends that made them thirsty for each other’s blood.
Prabhas' film has already earned ₹400 crores worldwide. It earned more than ₹250 crores within four days of its release. On the day of its release, 'Salaar' earned approximately ₹90 crores in the domestic market.
