Serving 5 Popular 2023 Songs That Are By The Way Misogynist

Just like every year, 2023 also served us some fresh songs from the Bollywood and pop scene which were in fact problematic and misogynistic. Let us take you through them one song at a time.

misoginist songs

Our love for Bollywood and its music is eternal and everlasting. We too fall in the category of complete filmy buffs who love to have all the conversations around the latest movies we binge watched on the weekend, movie dialogues, the newest released songs and more.

After all, who doesn’t love to gossip all day about the B-town celebrities and all that buzz that goes on in their world. All this is fun and game but the songs and their lyrics in the industry break our hearts every single time we tune in. Because quite frankly they are outright misogynistic.

In fact, it is very rare that we come by a Bollywood music track that does not revolve around sexism, treating the half of humanity as pieces of meat, hatred towards women, their objectification and the male gaze.

For years on end, the audiences have been served with cringe-worthy songs that come tuned to peppy and foot tapping beats where all our favourite stars and all the woke celebrities continue to wear skimpy clothes and shake their ‘lakk’.

Sexist lyrics in fact are a perpetual now an accepted and perpetual part of the Bollywood and popular culture music scene and there seems to be no improvement in that department. This year wasn’t a surprise either with multiple B-town songs that got us thinking why on Earth are they becoming chartbusters that are practically treating women like lesser human beings.

Here are misogynistic and problematic songs of the year 2023 that left us in a cringe state of mind, quite frankly.

Sanak

“Pyar Itna Zyada Diya Ki Woh Rone Lagi

Mansik Santulan Apna Khone Lagi

Pehle Ganda Kiya Phir Khud Hi Dhone Lagi

Ek Rat Mein Hi Love Usey Hone Lagi

Maine Bola Ek Choti Si Fight Hai Subeh Theek 6 Baje Meri

Chandigarh Ki Flight Hai Schedule Thoda Tight Hai

Kehti Aditya

Jhuth Bolne Ki Bhi Ek Height Hai

Kaise Bataun Life Jhuthon Se Bani

Piye Zehar Ke Jo Ghuton Se Bani”

Badshah’s hit number ‘Sanak’ is misogynistic to its core with the lyrics mirroring this fact like an absolute truth. The song talks about women being clingy and needy counterparts of the artist who has casual relations with them because of being the absolute casanova that he is.

“Berkin Lele Lele Gucci Ki Kameez, Tere Peeche Poora Town Mere Peeche Hai Police

Baby You’re A Good Girl And I’m A Bad Boy, Mera Lifestyle Hai Thoda Flamboyant

Lagdi Aa Shy Honey, Hi Honey, Sun Di Ae Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny

Main Khana Kendi Lebanese Dao Money, Te Ledo Kendi Tiffany You So Funny

Lagdi Ae Red Chilly Tu Red Chilly, Soni Eye Lash Teri Tu Jive Billie

Tere Utton Var Davaan Main Few Millis, Te Tenu Lage Joke Kara You So Silly

Mainu Kendi Sarda Ni Jattan Nal Aukha, Mainu Kendi Chaah Nyio Peendi Peeni Mocha

Kendi Mainu Hun Ta Tu Leja Mexico, Nak Val Dekh Jatta Palea Mai Koka

Kade Kendi Ah Lelo Te Oh Lelo, Ghadiyan Vi Matching-a Ji Do Lelo,

Lambo-an Vi Karniyan Ne Show Lelo, Mainu Kendi You Black And Me Yellow”

The song by Badshah and Karan Aujla basically brags about how their girls ask them for material things, trips abroad, and luxuries and hints at sexual innuendos. We say, frankly the women of today can afford their own diamonds, vacations and life and wouldn’t need men to do the heavy lifting for them.

Dheeth

“Sadi gal gal utte aa garaari arhdi,

sade vehre vich gaddi ni ferrari khardi,

fame foom kha gya kado da chabb ke ni,

das sade jinni kihdi ethe guddi charhdi,

paisa udaya vi barha ae te kmaya vi barha ae,

aish yaaran nu te naaran utte laaya vi brha ae,

mere gap vich kayi jo star bann gaye,

jatt hun vi ni ohna nalon top te khrha ae,

kran chill kude goriyan nal fun kude,

mere naal hundi ae kapateyan di jan kude,

diamond’an vala vi asi pent coat paonde aa,

te kade kade chadre nal paayi di fleet,

ni munde sare dheeth dheeth dheeth,

daaru peende neat neat neat,

putheyan kamman da sanu chaska aa goriye,

na bande asi theek theek theek,

ni munde sare dheeth dheeth dheeth,

daaru peende neat neat neat,

putheyan kamman da sanu chaska aa goriye,

na bande asi theek theek theek”

This 2023 song by Honey Singh again reeks of misogyny. While it praises men and their strong headedness; it treats women and blonde girls with extreme objectification and indignity which is pretty unacceptable to say the least.

Kalaastar

“Leja Leja Tainu Satt Samundaron Paar, Tohfe Vich Deke Haar

Tainu Khoob Karan Main Pyar, Billo Battiyan Bujhake

Aaya Mudd Tera Desi Kalakar Tainu Udeeke Meri Car

Tu Nazar Mere Te Mar Billo Ankhiyan Milake

Vigdeya Jatt Phir Addi Utte Aya

Kude Jail Vichon Sidha Tere Ghar Val Aya”

This latest chartbuster from the hit singer Honey Singh, talks about how a lover who has just set free from jail is heading to win his girl back. It was all good until now, but why is there a mention of explicit love making in the song which is extremely undignified and distasteful.

Sab Gazab

“Maine Dekhi Hai Girls All Around Round The World

Par Dekha Tujhe Toh Munh Se Nikla Oh ****

Hips Lips Eyes Thighs Sab Gazab Sab Gazab

Hips Lips Eyes Thighs Uff! Oh!”

Yet again this number by Badshah objectifies women and their body parts literally like they are a snack to be devoured on with an occasional dropping of curse words here and there. To this we say, entertainment coming at the cost of women not being treated with respect is not a vibe that we are going for and can tap our feet on.
