O'Romeo vs Tu Yaa Main Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor Takes Lead Over Shanaya Kapoor's Survival Thriller

The Valentine’s Day box office clash has delivered a clear early frontrunner. On February 13, 2026, two very different films arrived in cinemas, ‘O’Romeo’, led by Shahid Kapoor, and ‘Tu Yaa Main’, headlined by Shanaya Kapoor. While both releases hoped to capitalise on the romantic weekend, the opening numbers tell contrasting stories.

Mounted as a stylised gangster romance, ‘O’Romeo’ generated solid pre-release buzz thanks to its music, trailer and the intrigue around Shahid’s intense new avatar. In contrast, ‘Tu Yaa Main’, positioned as a survival thriller with romantic undertones, struggled to build similar momentum ahead of release.

As per Sacnilk’s early estimates, Shahid’s film has taken a comfortable lead on Day 1.

O’Romeo Box Office Collection Day 1

According to Sacnilk’s report, ‘O’Romeo’ earned ₹4.23 crore (India net) on its first Friday. The film recorded an overall 8.63% Hindi occupancy on February 13, 2026, with morning shows registering 8.63% and afternoon shows 12.17%.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film pairs Shahid with Triptii Dimri. Shahid plays Hussain Ustara, a ruthless gangster entangled in a volatile love story. Triptii portrays Afsha, a character reportedly inspired by Ashraf Khan, also known as Sapna Didi. The narrative draws from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, blending crime, obsession and tragic romance. The supporting cast includes Nana Patekar and Avinash Tiwary.

Tu Yaa Main Box Office Collection Day 1

In comparison, ‘Tu Yaa Main’ opened to a modest ₹0.26 crore (India net) on Day 1, as per Sacnilk. The film registered an overall 3.92% Hindi occupancy on Friday, with morning shows reflecting the same percentage.

The survival thriller stars Shanaya Kapoor alongside Adarsh Gourav and is directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Adapted from the Thai film ‘The Pool’, the story follows two social media influencers from vastly different backgrounds: Avani Shah, a wealthy lifestyle influencer from South Mumbai, and Maruti Kadam, an aspiring rapper from Nallasopara.

Their romance takes a dramatic turn during a road trip to Goa. Seeking shelter from heavy monsoon rain, they stop at an abandoned hotel and accidentally become trapped in a 20-foot-deep empty swimming pool. Matters worsen when a crocodile enters the pool, forcing the couple to put aside their egos and fight for survival.

Despite its high-concept premise, the film’s limited occupancy suggests that it has yet to capture audience interest on a large scale.
