M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story was one of Sushant Singh Rajput’s commercially successful films that will be re-released in Indian theatres on May 12. According to an announcement by Bikram Duggal, Head - Studios, Disney Star, the film will be released in Tamil and Telugu apart from Hindi.
Starring Disha Patani and Kiara Advani, the film is based on the life of one of the star cricket players of all time and former captain of the Indian team M.S. Dhoni. Rajput played the protagonist and garnered mounts of praise from his fans and critics. It has also been a special film for Star Studios.
According to a report published in the Times of India, Duggal said, “The re-release aims to give his (Sushant Singh Rajput) fans across the country another chance to relive cricket’s most magical moments on the big screen.”

This movie also has former captain Kapil Dev in a special role. He finally helps Iqbal to fulfil his dreams of playing for India. This film was also voted among the top 10 Hindi movies deemed fit for motivational and training material.
Patiala House

Starring Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma and Rishi Kapoor in the lead, Patiala House was a film that revolved around a traditional Punjabi family settled in England. Parghat Singh Kahlon, played by Kumar, wanted to play for the country like his father, who was once a star player but had to quit because he was called a traitor.
Gurtej Singh Kahlon, played by Kapoor, was adamant that none of his family members would neither watch cricket nor participate in the game in any capacity. However, after deceiving his father, Parghat becomes a player in the team of England. He was known as Kaali. The climax shows Gurtej being proud of Kaali.
Shabaash Mithu

Shabaash Mithu is a biographical sports drama based on the life of former Test and ODI captain of the Women’s National Team Mithali Raj. This film showcases how Raj conquered the world of cricket which was once ruled by men only.
Taapsee Pannu played the lead. Though the film did not manage to do well at the Box Office, the critical responses were encouraging.
Jersey

Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor, is a sports drama remake of a Telugu film with the same title. It also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor. It is about Arjun Talwar, who initially quits cricket. However, as his son grows up, he dreams to wear the Jersey of India. Unable to purchase it, he finds an opportunity to play in an upcoming charity match. This changes his life upside down.

This film is based on the real story of how the underdog Indian cricket team won the World Cup in 1983. Ranveer Singh played Kapil Dev, and Deepika Padukone played his wife.
The film did exceptionally. It was released in 2D and 3D formats in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. It bagged 14 nominations at the 67th Filmfare Awards.
