A Republic Day weekend release, ‘Border 2’ revisits the patriotic fervour of the 1997 classic. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. With high-octane battle sequences and emotional drama, it is expected to open the year on a blockbuster note.

Following the success of its predecessor, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ ups the scale with international espionage and a sprawling ensemble led by Ranveer Singh. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel aims to cement its place as a pan-India spy franchise.

One of the most ambitious pan-India projects of the year, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ stars Yash and is directed by Geetu Mohandas. With its stylised gangster narrative and multi-language release, the film is designed for both domestic and global audiences.

Few projects have generated as much buzz as ‘King’, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action-thriller is expected to deliver slick visuals, large-scale action and mass appeal.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Alpha’ stars Alia Bhatt in a rare female-led spy thriller. The film is being positioned as a significant step forward for women-centric action cinema in Bollywood.

Based on the 2020 India–China military clash, ‘Battle of Galwan’ stars Salman Khan and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. With its focus on realism and national pride, it is expected to resonate strongly with Indian audiences.

A grand period romance from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Love & War’ stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film is expected to blend intense romance with Bhansali’s signature visual grandeur.

Arguably the biggest Indian film in production, ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana. With music by A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer, and VFX by DNEG, the film is being positioned as a global mythological spectacle.

With its mix of star-driven blockbusters, bold female-led projects and technically ambitious epics, 2026 could mark a defining year for Bollywood’s theatrical resurgence.
