Another one of Imtiaz Ali’s precious movies that performed miserably at the box office but became a sleeper hit over the years is ‘Laila Majnu’. Ali surprised his fans upon announcing the re-release of the romantic drama starring Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary. He announced the exciting news on his Instagram handle with a caption that said, “Laila Majnu back on popular demand!!! gratitude to your love that pulled it into theatres again after six years!! re-releasing 9th Aug ‘24 in cinemas nationwide (check picture) congratulations team LM.”

This announcement comes a few days after the movie was re-released on August 2, 2024, in INOX Srinagar. Followed by houseful shows and the audience’s soaring demand for the movie, more shows were scheduled. Now, the film will mark its nationwide return on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Laila Majnu Plot
Inspired by the ancient folklore ‘Laila Majnu’, the movie is a modern take on the couple madly in love. After Laila (Triptii Dimri) and Qais fall head-over-heels in love with each other, their political familial rivalries force them to break ties. However, what was once an effort towards making their love diminish made it strengthen even further, and thus, Qais becomes Majnu who sees the absent Laila in every leaf, every flower.
