Hamare Baarah Controversy
Directed by Kamal Chandra, ‘Hamare Baarah’ aims to educate the masses about abortion, forced pregnancy, and unthoughtful procreation. However, two days before its release, the Bombay High Court withheld its release date till at least June 14, 2024, under communal concerns. Producers Birender Bhagat and Ravi S Gupta have also highlighted their reception of the censor certificate for their movie, however, the authority's decision remains unshaken.
Hamare Baarah Actors React
The ongoing controversies have left the cast stunned. In a News 18 interview, protagonist Annu Kapoor said, “At a personal and an impersonal level, I’m an atheist (Spiritual Podacsts). My director and producers thought that I was the right person who would be able to implement their vision on celluloid. So, I tried my best to justify my character. I’m not bothered about the rest. Films are a make-believe world where I’m chosen as an artist and my job is to justify my art.”

“People talk about propaganda all the time. I’m not bothered about it. I would urge people to watch the film first and then decide what our film stands for. They haven’t watched it, so I don’t understand why they’re judging it,” he added.
Speaking to ANI, Bollywood actor Manoj Joshi said, “I am an artist, I have done this film, but some people have opposed it. This movie was not made to target any religion. Today, there are discussions about respecting the women of our country. In any society, there should be no disrespect to women. A woman is not an object or a thing; she should be respected, as it has been happening in India.”
He added, “Secondly, the film talks about various topics such as education, upbringing, employment, women’s respect and empowerment, and population. So, everyone should watch this film with their families.”
