Let’s be honest when in doubt our mind starts thinking like an investigator and we all love to do that. Thus, we admire the investigators that are portrayed in movies and novels. But whenever we are asked to think about an investigator a male image comes into the picture. Whether we agree or not, investigation and crime has indeed been a male-dominated profession for ages and we hardly heard of female names. But today we are going to introduce you to a woman who has shattered the stereotypes and made her mark in this male-dominated industry. She is none other than Rajni Pandit, who became India’s first female investigator and won multiple awards for her meticulous work in this industry.
Under Herzindagi's 'Shakti Rupen Sansthita' campaign, we bring you the stories of inspiring women. Today we are going to tell you the very inspiring journey of India’s first female investigator in detail.
Got First Case In College
Born in Palghar, Rajni Pandit has completed her education in Mumbai. One fine day in college, Rajni got suspicious of her classmate. Her classmate used to take extra classes after college and lied about that to her home which made Rajni even more suspicious about her activities. Soon she started her investigation and got to know that she had got involved in bad company. When Rajni informed her family about her activities, rather than thanking Rajni they blamed her. However, she didn’t give up and next time appeared in front of her family with proof which compelled them to believe her. After this case, Rajni got involved in her life and forgot about the investigation.
Rajni Got Her First Paid Case On The Road
After college Rajni started working in a company and got completely engrossed in it. But one fine day, while returning from work she got her first paid case which paved her way to becoming India’s first female investigator. While returning from work she found one of her neighbours crying. Upon asking she got to know that thefts have increased in her house since her son got married and she is feeling awkward to ask her daughter-in-law about the same. Rajni offered help and started her investigation. Soon she found out that the culprit was none other than her younger son. The success of this case has encouraged Rajni to embark on her journey in the field of investigation.
Has Trained Various Professionals
The investigation domain has always been dominated by males but that never bothered Rajni. However, she was questioned by her family and relatives about her career choice but she remained firm. Soon her parents started supporting her. It was the year 1986 when Rajni started her investigative agency named “Rajni Pandit Detective Services”. Soon people started reaching out to her for training. There was a time when Rajni was solving 30-40 cases (shaheen malik acid attack survivor)at the same time. Since then she has trained more than 100 students.

Biggest Case Of Rajni’s Career
It was 1988 when Rajni got a case from a very influential family. It was a turning point in her career. It was a murder case where Rajni herself got into the family to find out the culprit. She started her investigation but the case was not as easy as it seemed. There came a moment when her activities got noticed by the owner of the house and she stopped Rajni from stepping out. But Rajni found her way out and contacted the police via the nearest STD booth.
Resolved 85000 Cases In Her Career
Rajni’s meticulous work has gained her cases from around the country. Today, along with her team Rajni has solved more than 85000 cases.
Didn’t Let Marriage Became The Barrier
Rajni very well knew her work culture which has kept her so occupied that she never got time to think about marriage and kids. We live in a society where women are often questioned for their marriage choices. But Rajni was very clear that she didn’t want to get married and she never regretted that.
Rajni has only one message for the women-
"Whatever you do, do it with much confidence. No matter what field you choose, you need to have passion for the same.
Even at the age of 60 years, Rajni is an inspiration for all the women who are struggling to break male-dominated stereotypes.
