Dolma Tsering's journey to culinary stardom is one marked by resilience, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Born and raised in Tibet, Dolma's culinary roots can be traced back to her childhood, where she learned the art of cooking traditional Tibetan delicacies. However, it was her move to Delhi in 1994 that would set the stage for her culinary legacy.
In an interview with Better India, she shared how people were unaware of what momos are and why a woman is selling them, she said, “I was the first one, there was no culture of momos in Delhi before me. They all looked at me suspiciously like - ‘Who is this woman selling this undercooked ‘maida’ (flour) dish’. They didn’t know what momos were.”
Arriving in Delhi with little more than a dream and a handful of recipes passed down through generations, Dolma embarked on her entrepreneurial journey. Armed with a deep-seated love for cooking and an innate understanding of flavours, she set up a small stall in Lajpat Nagar, dishing out steaming hot momos to hungry passersby. She offers steamed momos featuring three delightful fillings: Veg Momos, Chicken Momos, and Paneer Momos, accompanied by a deliciously spicy chutney. Presently, she operates multiple branches of her shop, employing over 20 individuals.

It was revolutionary because until then, momos were only sold in Chinese or South Asian restaurants.”
What started as a modest endeavour soon gained momentum, as word of Dolma's delectable momos spread like wildfire. From students to office-goers, locals to tourists, everyone visited Dolma's stall, drawn by the irresistible aroma and the promise of mouth-watering flavours.
