Born and raised in Bomdila, a small town in Arunachal Pradesh, Anshu developed a deep-seated love for the mountains from a young age. Anshu Jamsenpa, daughter of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police officer, developed a keen interest in mountaineering after marrying Tsering Wange. She is a mother of two teenage daughters. Hailing from remote Northeast India, Anshu Jamsenpa has been a driving force behind adventure sports and tourism in the Northeast region of India.
Anshu Jamsenpa's Journey As Mountaineer
Anshu's first ascent of Mount Everest came in 2011 when she successfully reached the summit, becoming the first woman from Arunachal Pradesh to achieve this remarkable feat. However, she didn't stop there. In a display of unparalleled courage and perseverance, in 2017, she achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first woman worldwide to scale Mount Everest twice in a single season, accomplishing this feat within an astonishing five-day span. This remarkable achievement marked her fifth successful summit of the world's tallest peak, solidifying her status as the Indian woman with the most ascents of Mount Everest.

Talking about achievements, she is the fastestwoman mountaineerin the world to summit Mt Everest twice in 5 days. She is the first woman in the world to do two double ascents of Mt Everest and she is also the first Indian woman in the world to summit Mt Everest five times.
She starred as the female lead in the acclaimed feature film ‘Crossing Bridges’, which garnered multiple awards, including the prestigious National Film Award.

1. In 2021, Anshu Jamsenpa was honoured with India's Padma Shri, the nation's fourth-highest civilian award.
2. On January 31, 2012, she made history by becoming the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be featured in the Limca Book of World Records.
3. Anshu Jamsenpa was appointed as a Global Brand Ambassador for the ‘Earth Anthem’ on May 26, 2014, during a ceremony at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
4. On June 2, 2012, she received the Woman Achiever of the Year 2011-12 award from the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Guwahati.
5. On February 20, 2012, she was honoured with the Arunachal Pradesh State Gold Medal by Union Defence Minister AK Anthony during the Arunachal Statehood Day Celebration in Itanagar.
