How To Make Arhar Dal Khichdi?
You Will Need:
- 1/2 Cup Toor Dal
- 2 Cup Rice
- 2 Tbsp Ghee
- Salt To Taste
- 2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
- 8 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
- Lemon To Taste
- Water As Required
Directions:
- Wash dal and rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- Chop onion and garlic and keep aside.
- In a cooker, add rice and dal with 3 glasses of water. Let it boil.
- Next, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt to it. Cook on low flame.
- In a pan, add ghee, cumin seeds, onions, and garlic. Let it cook for a few seconds and then switch off the flame.
- Transfer tempering to the khichdi and squeeze lemon juice. Hot toor dal khichdi is ready!

Step 1: Soak toor dal in hot or lukewarm water overnight.
Step 2: In a pressure cooker, add soaked dal, turmeric powder, and 8 bowls of water. Give it 7 to 8 whistles.
Step 3: Add salt as per taste and stir.
Step 4: Prepare tempering using ghee, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, and hing or asafoetida.
Step 5: Pour the tempering on the dal and enjoy with rice or roti.
