Actor, producer, writer and co-founder of the YouTube channel Shitty Ideas Trending Chhavi Mittal already has many roles to play. She is also a mother to daughter and all set to embrace motherhood for the second time. Chhavi is handling pregnancy like a boss and will be opting for hypnobirthing. Here are a few gems of advice that Chhavi has been doling out on her Instagram page which are perfect for modern moms-to-be.
Pre-birth Parenting
Parenting starts not after your baby is born but way before it. Here's what Chhavi has to say about it.
Mothers connect with a baby at a magical level during this pregnancy. So pregnant mothers should nourish themselves not just physically but mentally, because the baby reads your heartbeat like no external heartbeat monitor! He knows you better than you know him! Your thoughts, that affect your heart rate, your blood pressure, your brain waves, are all read by him. And while the stress levels, the anxiety levels, external factors, everything is playing havoc on your mind right now, do not undermine the importance of those 15-20 minutes in the day that you spend with yourself and your baby alone. Peaceful. Undisturbed. Unperturbed. Meditating. And dear fathers, if you want to have the privilege to connect with your baby, why wait for him to pop out! Start now! Hold your wife's gorgeous belly, speak to the baby inside, make your wife feel special and incite love in the baby for yourself too!
Postpartum Depression
Postpartum Depression is something that is still seen as a western affliction but there are many Indian mothers who experience it without having any diagnosis. We need to realise that a mother’s unhealthy state of mind can affect the newborn and the entire family. On this problem, Chhavi writes:
Postpartum depression is more real that you can imagine. I know so many women who go through it without even realising it. Even though a woman becoming a mother is the most natural of things, the care that a new mother needs is often ignored. My heart goes out to ALL FIRST TIME MOTHERS, who are struggling every minute trying to care for their baby, for their family, for their house, for their work, for the people who are visiting, so on and so forth... And actually neglecting their own needs. Every single person around these mothers has the responsibility to bring a smile on their faces. Mothers, it is no mean feat to tear your own body apart to give birth and to put your whole life aside to care for your child. So give yourself a break, pat yourself on the back, and DO NOT fall prey to that ugly shadow of doubt and depression. This too shall pass. Have faith that you are loved. And feel blessed to possess the most amazing thing of beauty in your arms... Postpartum depression WILL PASS.... And happy times are near sooner than later
Handling Unwanted Advice

Having A Second Child

Many women are told to have two kids to have a ‘complete family’ but managing pregnancy while taking care of your kid can be a huge task. A task that most of our mothers did unfailingly well. So what’s Chhavi’s take on this?

"With great power, comes great responsibility" I am empowered as a pregnant mother. Ek toh mother, upar se pregnant! 🤰 But seriously, it won't be an exaggeration to admit that I sometimes get sleepless nights thinking about the double responsibility that I have knowingly taken upon my shoulders. What was I thinking! While I can't wait to hold the little one who's kicking away to glory inside my belly, I do think about my own mother every single day, who bore and brought up the three of us, while she continued to go to work every single day, without having the luxury of maids or parental help! Right from cleaning, to cooking, to dropping me to school and picking me up, going to work, every single thing that superwoman managed so effortlessly! I guess I'm blessed to draw inspiration from that lady every growing up day of my life. I can only hope that I'm an ounce of what she is, and I'd consider myself a good mother and a good human being #mother _______________________________ #momtobeagain #momtobe #mom #momlife #motherhood #mothers #superwoman

Handling Negativity During Pregnancy
First time moms or those who get pregnant for the second time have to deal with a lot of negativity too. Even as they are preparing to welcome their bundle of joy, there are many fears of the responsibility and people who make the task a hundred times more difficult, there’s isolation and the hormonal upheaval on top of that. So what can we do?

Body Positivity
![inside]()
Even if people know that the extra chub on your body is because you are pregnant, they will point it out to you. Same people will question you if you workout to stay fit during pregnancy. But it is important to maintain your sense of body positivity and stay unfazed.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY: I have realised, that no matter what you do, people will talk. More often than not, badly. If you're thin, you're "on a diet", of you're thin and eat well, you're "blessed", if you're thin and eat well and work out, you're "obsessed". If you're thin & eat well & work out & don't give a damn about what people think, you're "crazy and all set for your doom"! LOL! And if you're pregnant, the judgements sometimes go to another level! Apparently everyone knows your body better that you do! What clothes to wear, what shoes to wear, how to talk, what to eat or drink, how to even stay fit, how to deliver a baby! Well, I speak for every woman, especially every pregnant woman. You know yourself the best. You know your body's needs the best. You know your comfort level the best. Don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise! Eat what you feel is right for you, avoid things that make you uncomfortable. Some amount of workout is good for you, but don't do it if it makes you feel uneasy. Decide your own limits. And woman, remember you are BEAUTIFUL! Creating another life is no mean feat! So pat yourself on the back, coz you're already doing more than many! Q: What's better than eating an ice-cream? A: Eating an ice-cream in the cold cold winter! This was 2 days ago, when I was still in HongKong. Last day of gluttony, last day of vacation, last day of sugar. I'm not somebody who follows diets and abstinence from the good stuff in life, but in lieu of the pregnancy and my constant endeavour to be healthy no matter what, I've officially gone on a no-sugar diet starting yesterday. Sugar, which I think is worse than cocaine, is really the worst kind of addiction ever! Firstly because it has so many ill effects on the health, and secondly, because it's so easily available! But before you read further, let me clarify, I'm only refraining from the processed variety, like in ice-creams, sodas, cakes, chocolates etc (which btw to me is sounding like the world's BEST things right now), and not from the natural sugar present in fruits, dates, jaggery etc. And also, did you know, that although everyone tells a pregnant woman that being pregnant is like eat-all-you-can-free-card, but a low sugar consumption pregnancy is a good deal healthier pregnancy? Too much sugar increases your chances of gestational diabetes, unhealthy weight gain, pre-eclampsia, pre-term delivery, the risk of your baby having metabolic syndrome & diabetes, and decreases your chances of a natural delivery! Now really, why would any pregnant woman take such a huge risk! And hence, a no sugar diet for me is the way going forward. Tell me when was the last time you had a no-sugar day? #nosugar _________________________________ #sugar #pregnancy #pregnant #beingpregnant #dessert #sweet #sweets #chocolate #icecream #Hongkong #vacation #gluttony #diet #healthydiet

Working Out
Exercising during pregnancy is not just important to stay in shape but it also keeps your body in good shape years later. So how do you stay motivated?

I cannot emphasise the importance of working out during pregnancy, enough. I went to the gym after a whole week today after recovering from an upset stomach. A pregnant mother's body grows fast. And as fast as it grows, it also becomes sluggish. And that is definitely not something any woman, pregnant or not, has time for. So ladies, especially my pregnant comrades, move that beautiful round body and go for a walk. Go for a swim. Go hit the gym or whatever else it is that you enjoy doing. Be fit, be energetic, be alive. Like I say, women and fitness is bad*ss, but pregnant women and fitness is f*ckin b*dass! 😎👊 #pregnancyfitness Pic credit:fellow mother & gym freak @farah_dalwai_ __________________________________ #pregancy #pregancyphoto #pregnantmother #fitnesd #gym #gymmotivation #motherhood #mother #workout #health #healthylifestyle

Pregnancy and fitness should be married to each other, coz a pregnancy is a hit if you're fit. I'm doing a wide stance deadlift here, with reduced weights, coz the objective is not too build muscle, but to build strength. Strength to carry another human being inside me, to continue being active while doing it, to prepare to push this human out smoothly, and most importantly, to prepare for what's to come in a few months. Increased work load, increased exersion, decreased sleep, changed priorities and who knows what else .... P.S. performed after go ahead from doctor and after years of weight training consistently. Do not start anything new during your pregnancy. It's not the time to ape or set new goals. One step at a time. #healthypregnancy ________________________________ #pregnancyfitness #pregnancyworkout #workout #fitness #pregnant #pregnantmother #doctor #gym #gymmotivation #gymming #chhavimittal #deadlift
