According to the National Cancer Institute of India, Ovarian cancer is the formation of rapidly multiplying cancer cells in ovaries leading to the destruction of healthy body tissue.

The exact causes of Ovarian cancer are still not known, yet experts suggest that genetics play a significant role in causing them. Additionally, having a close family member with ovarian cancer significantly elevates a woman's chances. Age, particularly post-menopause, is another critical factor, in addition to Hormone replacement therapy, which could be beneficial for some women, can also slightly increase the risk.
Symptoms Of Ovarian Cancer
The often vague symptoms of Ovarian cancer are a key challenge leading to delayed diagnosis. However, there are a few things women should be alert about such as:
- Abdominal bloating and swelling
- Feeling full quickly despite eating a little
- Unexplained weight loss or gain
- Pelvic discomfort
- Changes in bowel habits
- Persistent fatigue
- Back Pain
- A frequent need to urinate
