Dietician Simran Saini from Fortis Hospital shared with us, some side effects of drinking ginger tea. She shared, "Consuming too much of anything can be dangerous for your health. Similarly, drinking too much of ginger tea can be harmful for your health. Consuming 5 grams of ginger per day is enough for one person. Don't add more than 1/4th tablespoon in a cup of tea. In fact, pregnant women should not consume more than 2.5 gram ginger in a day. If you face digestive issues, then you should not consume more than 1.2 gram of ginger. For weight loss, women should not intake more than 1 gram.
1. Women usually have a habit of adding too much ginger to the tea. This can lead to heartburn. A lot of women also face stomach burn after drinking ginger tea.
2. If you have a habit of drinking ginger tea at night, you need to stop right there. This can lead to problems in your sleep cycle. A lot of women are not able to sleep after drinking ginger tea. Lack of sleep can further lead to a lot of health problems.
3. Consuming a lot of ginger can bring down blood sugar levels. Those suffering from low sugar level should consume less ginger.
4. Too much of ginger can lead to acidity, heartburn and even diarrhea. Ginger tea produces acid in the stomach.

Ginger should always be consumed in moderation. If you are a ginger tea addict, try to cut down on it slowly. Make sure you don’t give ginger tea to children below 5 years. If you are facing any major health problems, do consult your doctor if you can consume ginger or not.
