In a world where nothing is pure including food and air, it is essential to care for your health even more. While focusing on your mental and physical well-being, ensure working on your reproductive health by balancing reproductive hormones to maintain fertility. You must focus on key areas including lifestyle alterations, food, stress management, and medicinal treatments as needed.

To know more about this, we spoke to Dr Sankeerna Patil Fertility Specialist at Nova IVF Fertility, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru. She has listed the key factors to manage your reproductive hormones.

Key Factors To Balance Reproductive Hormones

Healthy Diet And Exercise

Dr Patil says, “Consume seasonal fruits and vegetables of all colours, lean meats, whole grains, green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish. These meals contain antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, that help regulate a hormonal balance.”

Apart from avoiding junk food and beverages, exercise regularly to maintain weight for hormonal balance. She added, “Exercise decreases insulin levels, improves sleep, and reduces stress, striking a hormonal balance. However, excessive exercise for weight loss might cause hormone imbalances and reproductive issues.” Therefore, you must maintain your BMI for optimum results.

Adequate sleep

It is necessary to sleep well for hormonal balance. “The body's circadian cycle regulates hormone production, and interruptions in sleep patterns can cause hormonal imbalances. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep every night and stick to a consistent sleep schedule to promote hormonal health,” advises Dr Patil.

Stress Management

Chronic stress leads to an overproduction of adrenaline and cortisol, interfering with reproductive hormones like oestrogen and progesterone. Dr Patil suggests, “Stress-reduction approaches like yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises, and taking frequent breaks can all help you maintain hormonal balance.”

Social Habits

Smoking can disbalance hormones leading to subfertility while alcohol use impacts females disrupting their menstrual cycle and reproductive functioning. Therefore, you must reduce alcohol and tobacco consumption.

Avoiding Toxin

Dr Patil states, “Environmental pollutants such as pesticides, plastics, and chemicals present in edibles can impair hormone function. Endocrine disruptors can imitate or interact with the body's hormones.” Opt for organic foods, use natural cleaning products, and limit plastic use at home for balanced hormones and healthy life.
