Most women have a secret crush on model-turned-actor Milind Soman whose fitness and stamina makes him look even at 53. But is Milind's mother the secret behind his fitness mantra? On Mother's Day, Milind shared a video on his Instagram where his "80 years young" mother Usha Soman left most women jaw dropped by doing not one, but 16 push-ups in one go. India's first supermodel and fitness icon, Milind Soman can be seen doing push-ups alongside his saree-clad mother at a ground. Age is just a number and the video of Usha Soman doing push up clearly proves the saying correct.

"It's never too late. Usha Soman, my mother. 80 years young. Make every day Mother's Day," Milind Soman wrote on Twitter.

After the push-ups, Pinkathon ambassador, Milind says: "This message is for all the mothers out there. Take a little bit of time out for yourselves everyday even if it is five or 10 minutes, whatever you can manage. We want to see all of you super fit. Happy Mother's Day."

He ends the video by kissing his mom on the cheek. The video has gone viral on the social media.

This is not the first time that the marathoner's mother has set an example. In her late 70s, she ran a marathon barefoot in a sari in Maharashtra in 2016 and did planks for 1 minute 20 seconds.

A couple of years back, Usha Soman reportedly walked 100km in 41 hours for the Mumbai Oxfam Trailwalker. In 2017, Facebook account of 'The Great India Run' shared a video of Usha and Milin Soman participating in a two-week long marathon between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. They wrote: "Like mother like son. Wondering where Milind Soman learnt to run barefoot? His mom joins Milind during the penultimate day of TGIR near Manor.”

Usha Soman, a retired professor of biochemistry reportedly started trekking when she was just 16-year-old. She has also scaled the base camp of Mt. Everest and the highest mountain in Africa Mt. Kilimanjaro.

In an interview given to a daily, Usha Soman said she eats everything healthy, walks daily, works on keeping a positive frame of mind and doesn’t allow technology to rule her life.

“I don’t believe in these fads about having high protein diet with specific amount of carbohydrates and all. If you really think about it, our traditional food was absolutely balanced. I just stick to that,” said the octogenarian, adding, "Fitness is also not just restricted to the physical realms. Your mind must be fit too. It’s the mind that drives you."
