This global pandemic has made us all rethink our sartorial choices. The Vocal For Local campaign has brought Made in India brands to the forefront. We all are slowly getting aware of it and understanding the power of making a smart and sustainable choice when buying clothes. Sustainability is the new cool and one must take that route today, not because now it is a trend but because this is a choice you make for your environment.
Vidya Balan too is trying to take the sustainable route with her fashion picks this season. The 41-year-old actress is currently promoting her next, Shakuntla Devi virtually and for the same, she has opted for the green route. Most of her outfits are from local Indian brands that are environment-friendly. Also, most of her picks are affordable and you too can add some of her best in your closet this season. Let's take you through our favourite ones.
Block Printed Cotton Dress
For her e-promotions, Vidya Balan opted for this flowy and fun cotton dress from ta'assur. The block print all over Vidya's dress is done by artisans of Sanganeri lanes. Brand owner, Mamta Mehta, shared, "The block prints are made by experienced artisans of our hinterland and stitched by local craftsmen thus generating employment and livelihood. ta'assur believes that block printed motifs nurture your beauty and make you look more glamorous along with the ethnicity of the age-old technique. Fabrics are all hand block printed, done by artisans of Sanganeri lanes in Jaipur."
The process helps in softening the fabric, shared Vidya Balan in her post on Instagram. You can buy this summery outfit for Rs. 3900. A pair of tan brown pumps was Vidya's choice of footwear with the look. Her hair were center-parted curled and kept on the sides.

Vidya carried the outfit with quirky silver jhumkas. Her hair were center parted and tied in a neat ponytail at the back.
Black And Gold Korvai Cotton Saree
Vidya Balan opted for this stunning black and gold classic Korvai cotton weave for her e-promotions. This saree was bought from a weaver exhibition. Sharing a picture in this beautiful cotton saree on her Instagram, she wrote, "The black and gold classic saree is yet another Korvai Cotton weave. Weaver's are their best designers. They know the limitations of the humble loom and hence make innovations within those limitations. The saree's double border has been block printed by the artisan. Though this may not seem a big deal to a designer, it is a huge leap for maybe a new generation artisan in their family lineage. Support artisans who actually herald our countries textile tradition."
