The much-awaited trailer of Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi is finally out. The movie is a biopic of mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi, who is also known as 'human computer'. Vidya Balan starrer, Shakuntala Devi's trailer takes us through the journey of the latter who was always an over-intelligent kid and who ends up being called the human-computer. In between, we see her journey as a mother which isn't a normal one. Vidya Balan is known for pulling off any character with ease and that is exactly what she does here, once again. Shakuntala Devi's Not So Simple Life
Most of us know Shakuntala Devi as a genius. However, many don't know that despite being a genius, she didn't have a very simple life. It was all a cakewalk for her till she became a mother. In the trailer, we can see Shakuntala Devi and her daughter at loggerheads. Though Shakuntala Devi was a great genius, the trailer takes us through her journey of not being a normal or perfect mother. Sanya Malhotra, who plays her daughter Anupama Banerji can be seen wishing for a normal mother. Did she complicate her simple life being a genius? We will have to wait and watch the movie for it!
Shakuntala Devi is survived by her daughter Anupama Banerji who lives in London. While the team was shooting in London, she was present on the sets. According to reports, she got really emotional during the shoot of the movie.

Unknown Facts About Shakuntala Devi
Born in Bangalore, Shakuntala Devi was just 3 when her father discovered her talent of memorising numbers. When she turned 6, she proved her arithmetic capabilities. The Guinness Book Of World Records recognised her talent in the year 1982. She outperformed the fastest computers back then, and that's when she got the title of 'human computer'.
Shakuntala Devi was the brain behind India's first-ever book on homosexuality. She believed that people have different sexual tendencies and there is nothing called homosexuality. The mathematical wizard also wrote many other books on cooking and astrology.
Shakuntala Devi breathed her last on 21st April 2013 due to cardiac and respiratory problems.
Vidya Balan On Playing The Super Genius
In an interview, talking about playing the role of the mathematical genius, Vidya Balan said, "I am extremely excited to play the human computer, Shakuntala Devi, on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice, and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success."
Due to the global pandemic, the movie won't have a theatre release, and talking about the same and her journey through the making of the film, Vidya Balan said, “Stepping into the world of Shakuntala Devi was as intimidating as it was exhilarating. Her story is inspirational and makes you see how if we believe in ourselves, the world is our oyster. A direct release on Prime Video will bring Shakuntala Devi one step closer to audiences across the globe where they can watch the movie at their convenience.”
After watching the trailer, I can say that this movie looks really promising. Like every other character, Vidya Balan effortlessly fits into the shoes of Shakuntala Devi. The movie will have a digital release on Amazon Prime on 31st July.
