Makeup is something that people use to express themselves or cover up their flaws. When it comes to Indian TV shows, they define characters for sure! Since the time TV Czarina Ekta Kapoor started delivering some of the biggest shows Indian television screens ever witnessed, life celluloidchanged forever. The women in her shows created strong identification of their characters and a lot of credit for that went to their striking makeup choices, apart from their acting prowess.Case in point, a "seedhi saadhi Tulsi" had a subtle tone of makeup but the so-called vamp of the show was flaunting bindis and eye looks that stood out. The late 90's and the Y2K century witnessed a boom in such shows which had a certain classification. Even today viewers can easily identify these famous characters by merely looking at their makeup. But have you realised that there are some makeup looks that are back or can be brought back even in 2020? Scroll down and you will know what I am talking about.
Jigyasa's Smokey Eyes
Jigayasa Walia was the name of the character essayed by Ashwini Kalsekar in the famous show "Kasamh Se" that launched actress Prachi Desai ion TV. The character was that of a mean woman with a haughty temperament. The look of the character was defined by bold makeup consisting of a large round bindi, nude lip shades, and smokey eyes. The smokey eye makeup lookis huge even now despite the fact that no-makeup looks are a major trend. If you notice, her eye makeup always had a hint of shades that reflected in her sarees, or they were defined by the shades of black and brown. The eyebrows, too, were defined with the crease area highlighted.

Kokila's OTT Sindoor
Although, on a personal level, the show makes me cringeit sure was a hit among viewers!Saath Nibhana Saathiya had the character of a mother-in-law named Kokila, who would support extremely loud makeup. Actress Rupal Patel who essayed the vamp had to flaunt a long sindoor which stretched from the tip of her forehead to the middle of it. It was given a finishing touch with a rhinestone bindi. If this was not enough, the frosted lip shades were unmissable. The long bindis that we saw a lot during those days, thanks to Ramola Sikand who is next in this list, was a big hit. However, we sure can pick the heavily kohled eyes of Kokila's makeup, accentuated by a thick eyeliner. Just focus on your eyes, in case you want to skip on any formal makeup session, and you are sorted!
Ramola Sikand's Bindis
It's a known fact that actress Sudha Chandran is a classical dancer. However, her dramatic makeup was the talk of the town back then. Her huge bindis and a neatly defined lip liners helped in creating the iconic look of Ramola Sikand in the popular show "Kaahin Kissii Roz". From a big arrow to a trishul to a rising sun, her makeup was loud but inspiring at the same time. Though I am skipping the lip liner bit, which looks quite cringy, the bindis, however, would still make for a great choice, if carried properly!
Komolika's Exaggerated Eye Liners & Beauty Spot
One of the most iconic characters to be ever portrayed on Indian TV screens, Komolika was truly the showstopper in the very popular "Kasautii Zindagi Kii" played beautifully by Urvashi Dholakia. So much so was her popularity that viewers, even now, crave to have her back on their screens. The background score that would pop up with the entry of Komolika, too, earned the iconic status. What would add to her glammed entry would be those striking eyes, glossy lips, huge Bindis adorning the overall look. Of course, it was loud since everything was put together seemed too much of a makeup with loud colours, you can still create some of it in a more personalised way. For instance, the double eyeliner strokes to semi smokey eyes, they all would look amazing and make you look a stunner. So do give it a try the next time you are heading out for a party.
