Saree Is A Girl's Best Friend: Masaba On Neena Gupta's Look At Uunchai Premiere

For the Uunchai premiere, Neena Gupta was spotted serving fashion goals in the six yards of elegance. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Masaba Gupta opened up about her fashion line and how she picked that saree for her mother.

Neena Gupta was clicked Uunchai Premiere in a House Of Masaba saree. The Cotton Chanderi Sportee six yards of elegance was styled with a warmer blouse from the limited edition of Masaba’s collection.

The actor had a monochromatic makeup look in shades of brown. To accentuate her look, her styling artist Aakruti Sejpal accessorised the saree with oxidised bangles, a studded choker with pearl drops and studs. The actor’s hair was tied in a centre-parted bun with soft curls on either side of the face. She also sported a gajara and black bindi to blend modern and chic styles seamlessly.

While speaking to Pinkvilla, Masaba shared that her fashion line, House Of Masaba, was born in Neena Gupta’s living room. It used to spill into her bedroom and later sprawled over a tiny one-bedroom apartment.

The fashion designer, actor, and businesswoman said her mother had access to a fancy office. However, she advised Masaba to “grow your baby in your own way on your own clock.”

As House Of Masaba grew into a full-fledged brand to which women turned to when they wanted to wear stylish clothes without giving up on comfort, the designer started adding the tag of ‘India Proud’ to her merch.

‘Saree Is A Girl’s Best Friend’

House Of Masaba is famous for its prints and ‘easy-breezy sarees’. The designer-actor said, “I love the saree, I think it is way sexier and more chic than any other silhouette. To put it simply, the Saree is a girl’s best friend.”

With a hint of humour, Masaba Gupota added that her mother has been complaining that she has gotten too busy to style her and of late design for her. So this black and white cotton chanderi saree was Masaba’s exclusive design for Neena.

“In honour of this incredible actor’s (Neena Gupta) new film Uunchai, I give you a #Neenaji special saree - The Cotton Chanderi Sportee Saree feat. The Arm Warmer Blouse,” Masaba added.

Uunchai is Neena Gupta and Amitabh Bachchan’s second film together this year. Earlier, they were seen in Goodbye. The film also stars Parineeti Chopra, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Boman Irani and Sarika. It is releasing on November 11, 2022.
