Many of us invest a lot of our money in good comfortable lingerie which could be lacey, a bralette, sheer, padded, underwired... well there are a number of options available in the market today. But one key point that we tend to overlook is how we treat those pieces of clothing that make us feel good all day long. There is a certain way of keeping your bra in the wardrobe, a way of handling them while washing and well there are several tips that have been listed down below. Investing a good amount in your lingerie is good but so is how you care for them. So take a look at the list and check what you need to do now.
Hooks
A number of times we see that our bra's hooks have broken or are entangled with other delicate clothing. Not just the clothes but they get stuck in the small openings in our washing machine as well. Now, this doesn't just spoil the hook section but it also makes the bra stretch. So it is advisable that you hook the backs together and then put it for washing.
Use The Hands
Washing your bra in the machine is fine when it is sometimes but it is advisable that you wash them yourself. Yes, it is a little hard work but once you make a habit out of it, it gets easier. The reason here is that this gives a longer life to your expensive bras. When we put our bras in the machine, it is rubbed vigorously in the cycle and that can fad the fabric, make it weaker and if it has lace work on it or even net then they can tear or have wobbling, ruining your precious. So it is best that you use your hands to wash it with mild soap and cold water.

Washing Bags
Hands would be the best but if you have no time at all and you know that at the end of the day you have to put them in the washing machine then dear ladies, buy a washing bag which exclusively for your lingerie. There are several online stores that sell them in so many colours and they are now available in stores physically as well. They are affordable and prevent any harm that could ruin your delicates.
Water Temperature
It makes a lot of difference when we speak of the temperature of the water you are washing your bra in. Hot water is a strict no-no. Yes, it is believed by most that hot water kills germs but what you are forgetting here is that it ruins the elasticity of your bra. Not just that, if you have been wearing an underwired bra then the cloth that covers those wires is very thin so that also withers away over time, much earlier than when it should. Use warm water instead.
Dryer Cycle In The Machine
When you dry your lingerie in the dryer cycle of the machine, although convenient, it ruins the spandex in your bra due to the heat. If it is an underwired bra then you may end up with a ruined mould. This will ruin the shape and effect the life of your bra.
Bra Storage
If you have been folding one cup into the other then you have been doing it all wrong and destroying your bra moulds. If it is a padded bra then this practice is a disaster ladies. When you fold one cup into the other, it creases and ruins the shape of the cushion inserted in it. Just stack them all one upon the other and store them in a drawer.
However, if you don't wear the padded ones then you can fold one cup into the other. But do not let them twist and tangle. Make sure that you have closed the hooks before storing them.
