Seems like a few nail artists have taken the World Health Organisation’s #SafeHandChallenge to far. While governments around the world are taking the help of celebrities and campaigns to inspire people to exercise necessary precautions against coronavirus, a few nail artists have amazed us with their weird take on self-love. Beauty knows no boundaries! Be it pandemics like coronavirus or wildfire, fashionistas know exactly how to show their support to the cause.
The latest nail art trend which has caught the eyeballs of netizens is surfacing all over the social media. The snaps and the clips show nails decorated to look like sanitizers, 3D replication of coronavirus, nails donning a mask and even a few which says “stay safe”. Here are a few designs that are aesthetically pleasing and caught our attention too.
This one is by a Russian artist, who put out quite a subtle piece, in comparison to others following this bizarre trend. Taking turquoise blue as the base, she designed figures looking at viruses over it with dark green. Alongside the picture, she asked her followers if they liked it or not. “Coronavirus nails! Yay or nay? I used: #lk164 tiffany #lk028 iron oxide green #lk030 dark green #lk494 yellow #lk178 clover field,” she wrote. Under which most of the comments disapproved of her latest nail art. While one wrote “Bad Joke”, others said, “Sick”.
Taking things too far, a California-based-artist, disappointed his/ her follower amid the coronavirus pandemic. In the photos, the person’s nail can be seen wearing a 3D face mask, above another 3D figure, which is supposed to replicate coronavirus. Besides the fact that people it “insensitive” carrying such nail art, especially during the time when one must maintain hand hygiene is highly impractical.
The artist’s post was filled with comments like “What is wrong with you,” “A little offensive and not really necessary 👎,” and “This is in VERY poor taste...” However, a few twitter users did find a positive outlook of this weird nail art. Uploading a small clip he wrote, “End of days realness... #coronoshebetterdo Maybe I'll get em done, and finally remember to stop touching my damn face. While this trend may attract some people, others seem worried about women who might actually opt for this nail art, ignoring the hygiene of their nails. “Sorry ladies. In this #pandemic, having long nails would NOT be the smartest thing- collecting the germs and viruses under your nails. #nailart #hubs for #germ #coronavirus #shortnailslover Microbe,” wrote a netizen.

Between all these nail arts, the only trend that made little sense and garnered people’s appreciation was by an artist who seemed to have attached false nails to her hand gloves and painted it to look good. “The only place I go out is Supermarket 💕 I need to be look cute,” she wrote alongside. Even netizens applauded her creativity and wrote, “I absolutely love these.”
