Twitter Features: Have you ever thought that the day would come when you would be able to use X for an audio or a video call? According to the recent announcement made by Elon Musk on August 31, 2023, the social media platform will soon have these features in the next scheduled updates.

The CEO of SpaceX said that the new features will be available to use on PC, Android, iOS, and Mac. He also added that people will be able to make calls without the phone numbers. Interesting or intruding?

X Roll Out: Elon Musk Announcement

Taking it to the social media platform, Musk tweeted that audio and video calls are coming to X. He added that X will be an effective global address book. Pointing to the new features, he said, “That set of factors is unique.”

There are no dates announced for the launch of the feature, but it might be happening soon.

According to a report in NDTV, Andrew Conway, designer at X, also hinted in July 2023 that such a feature will be rolling out on the platform. He even went a step ahead of Elon Musk to share the screenshots of the feature. One can see that the video and audio call options will be available in the top left corner of the DM screen.

New Features On X

The official page of X shared the new features available for the premium subscribers. The list included,

  • Ability to download videos from your timelines to your camera
  • Ability to post long videos, up to 2-3 hours, with 1080-pixel quality
  • Ability to control a video, including double tap, playback speed, and jump back among others
  • An immersive video player in iOS and Android
  • Auto-captioning of popular videos
  • Availability of media studio
  • Improved live broadcasting from mobile

These were a few things and more that were made available for the premium subscribers from August 25, 2023.

‘Mind Blowing’ Says Elon Musk About X

In one of the comments, Musk was spotted praising the capability of the platform to reach a vast audience in a short span. He wrote, “The speed at which your message on this platform can reach a vast number of people is mind-blowing.”

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022, he has been changing many things on the platform. One of the biggest tweaks he made was changing the logo. From the blue and white bird, he changed it to X. He wrote, “The bird is free.”

When Musk acquired Twitter, he shared a statement on the platform that reads, “It was important to the future civilisation to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”

It further reads, “There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide in our society.”
