One of the main reasons we love winters is because of the availability of the most healthy and scrumptious foods. Cabbage is one among them. While now it is available at stores throughout the year, the best quality cabbages are only sold during the cold season.
From Indian to Chinese, this green leafy vegetable is used to prepare various dishes. However, we happen to waste a significant portion of cabbage by peeling off its upper layers and throwing them in the dustbin. Don’t do that, because you can use them in various ways. Here are some of them!
Spring rolls are simply love! They satisfy our taste buds like no other food. But, the pastry of spring roll soak way too much oil, making it greasy and unhealthy. Take the leftover cabbage leaf, and switch it with spring roll pastry for a healthy twist. Clean the leaves in boiling water to get rid of any germ, bacteria or tiny insect. If you wish, you can also add salt for thorough cleaning. Binding cabbage leaf won’t be as easy as rolling spring roll pastry. You can cut long strips of cabbage leaf to make edible strings to bind the rolls or apply rice flour and water mixture to stick the ends.
There is hardly any Indian, who doesn’t like a slight punch of flavours in food. The easiest way to do that is by adding pickle. For you are hot a huge fan of store-bought pickles or are not sure of its components, make your own at home. In a jar, add oil, chilli powder, crushed garlic, ginger, oil, and salt. Also, add sliced cabbage pieces. Give a good mix and leave for a couple of days.
Cabbage is a versatile vegetable, which can be added in a noodle dish, soup, curry, and also as a filling in items like spring rolls, momos, vegetable sandwiches, etc. Since you don’t need to have precise cuts to add cabbage as fillings, combine the leftover cabbage leaves to make the mixture. It will save so much food from getting wasted.
The green vegetable is packed with numerous nutrients, such as fibre, folate, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A (vitamin A importance) and K. Other than ingesting it, you can also use cabbage topically to soak its goodness in. Clean the leaves in boiling water and keep in the refrigerator. Whenever your skin feels tired or dull, keep the cabbage leaf on the face to bring back glow.
