Krishna Janmashtami, one of the most popular Hindu festivals, is set to be celebrated with great joy and devotion at the ISKCON temple in Sector 13, Dwarka, Delhi. This year, the celebration is particularly special as the temple has planned a grand three-day Krishna Janmotsav, as per the ETV Bharat report. Devotees from across the city are expected to visit the temple to participate in the festivities and seek the blessings of Lord Krishna. The temple authorities are expecting five lakh devotees this year.

Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy on August 26, 2024. Preparations are in full swing at the ISKCON temple in Sector 13, Dwarka, Delhi. The temple will host a three-day Krishna Janmotsav, during which one lakh dishes will be offered to the Lord.
Preparations for the festival are in full swing, with the temple authorities and volunteers working tirelessly to ensure a seamless celebration. The entire temple premises are decorated with flowers, lights, and vibrant rangolis, creating an atmosphere of divine joy and reverence. The highlight of the decoration will be the grand idol of Lord Krishna, adorned with exquisite jewellery and garments, which will be the main part of the celebrations.
In an interview with ETV Bharat, the head priest of the ISKON temple, Ved Chaitanya Das said, “Every year, something special is done on the occasion of Janmashtami, and this time, one lakh different dishes will be offered to Lord Krishna. Kirtan will be organised in the temple throughout the day. Preparations have begun about two months in advance. Many meetings have been organised in this regard. On the day of Janmashtami, one lakh dishes will be prepared and offered to Lord Krishna.”

This year’s celebrations at Dwarka ISKCON Temple will feature several special attractions, with one of the main highlights being the different types of special bhog (offerings) to Lord Krishna. Among them, a 100 kg cake will be presented as part of the mahabhog prasad, adding a special touch to the festivities.
The celebration will also include a vibrant cultural program, showcasing traditional performances and devotional music. This year marks the anniversary of ISKCON Dwarka’s Metaverse Experience, which allows devotees to engage with the temple’s virtual environment, enhancing the overall spiritual experience.

i) To accommodate the large number of devotees, a massive waterproof tent is being set up, designed to shelter up to 41,000 devotees at once. The temple authorities are expecting five lakh devotees this year.
ii) Over 5,000 ISKCON volunteers, alongside Delhi Police personnel and Civil Defense volunteers, will be present to ensure a seamless and secure experience for all attendees.
iii) Special provisions have been made for the elderly and disabled, including the availability of more than 20 wheelchairs and dedicated queues for easier access.
