The first Vistadome coach in a train in India was introduced in Andhra Pradesh in the year 2017 on the Visakhapatnam-Araku route. With the latest introduction of Madhya Pradesh’s first Vistadome coach on the Bhopal-Jabalpur route in August 2022, India reportedly has 33 Vistadome coaches at present.
Apart from 360-degree rotatable luxury pushback chairs, large windows, transparent roofs, and self-operated sliding doors, glass back, the coaches also have Wifi and GPS facility, and an infotainment system. The routes of Vistadome coaches mainly cover routes that have scenic beauty like hills, greenery, rivers, and forest areas.

New Jalpaiguri- Alipurduar
The Vistadome coaches take the passengers on a journey through lush green forests, tea gardens, and rivers of the Dooars on the New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar route in North Bengal. Before arriving at its final destination, Alipurduar, the train makes stops at a number of locations including Chalsa, Siliguri, and Hasimara.
Bangalore- Mangalore & Bangalore-Karwar
In 2021, the Indian Railways added a unique Vistadome coach to the Mangaluru-Bengaluru train so that passengers could enjoy the breathtaking Western Ghats.
Another train with Vistadome coaches that leaves from Bengaluru includes the Bengaluru-Karwar route in Karnataka. On its route, the train halts at 16 stations—Tumkur, Tiptur, Arsikere Junction, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Roa, Kabakaputtur, Bantawala, Mangalore Junction, Surathkal, Udupi, Kundapura, Byndoor, Bhatkal, Honnavar and Kumta.
Mumbai-Madgaon (Goa)
To enjoy the scenic views of the Western Ghats and Konkan coast, Vistadome coaches have been added to the Dadar-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express that you can board from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The train leaves from the station around 5.30 am and reaches Madgaon in Central Goa around 4.30 pm.

Mumbai- Pune
The Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express with Vistadome coaches began operations in the Central Railway (CR) zone of Indian Railways in July 2022. This Vistadome coach follows Deccan Express and Deccan Queen Express as the third on the route. Travellers can take in the natural splendour of the Western Ghats and get sights of Khandala and Lonavala as well as Songir Hills, Matheran Hill, Ulhas River, and Ulhas Valley on the way.

Shimla
The Vistadome coaches on the Him Darshan Express between Kalka and Shimla can accommodate more than 1,000 passengers each. Through these glass-enclosed coaches, tourists can see the snowfall during the winter as well.
