The Ahmedabad government has left no stones unturned to give a grand welcome to United States President Donald Trump for his 36-hour-long India visit. Trump has come to India along with wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner. According to officials, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationships. “The talks will be comprehensive and cover issues relating to our strategic partnership in the areas of defence, security, counter-terrorism, as well as trade, energy, people-to-people exchanges, and other bilateral matters,” the foreign secretary was quoted as saying.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received the guests at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad. PM Modi has even has tweeted a photo of him greeting US President at the steps of Air Force One. "Welcome to India," he wrote along with a couple of photos of the two leaders.

Ahead of his arrival in India, President Donald Trump tweeted, "हम भारत आने के लिए तत्पर हैं । हम रास्ते में हैँ, कुछ ही घंटों में हम सबसे मिलेंगे!" (We are on our way. We will be meeting everyone in a few hours from now.")

Sabarmati Ashram
Without wasting a minute, PM Modi and the US President Trump went to Sabarmati Ashram to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, known as the Father of the Nation in India.
Located on the banks of Sabarmati river, this ashram was once home to Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba. Also, it was from here on March 12, 1930, that Gandhiji launched the famous Dandi march. He vowed that he would not return to the Ashram until India gets freedom from Britishers. India did win independence and was declared a free nation on 15 August 1947, however, he could not return to the ashram as he was assassinated in January 1948.
Motera Stadium
After visiting Sabarmati Ashram, both the leaders reached the newly built cricket stadium in Motera to address a gathering of over one lakh people at the "Namaste Trump" event. This rally was similar to the landmark 'Howdy, Modi!' event hosted by the Indian-American community in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Houston in September 2019. The event will also include cultural performances from different states and Bollywood celebrities are also expected to attend the event.
Motera Stadium is the world's biggest Cricket stadium. Withthe seating capacity of more than 1,10,000 people, the stadium is spread across 63 acres and has 55 club rooms, a gymnasium, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and three entry points. The stadium was built in 1982 when the Gujarat state government had sanctioned 50 acres of land for the construction.
Taj Mahal
The US President will cap off his first day in India by visiting the 17th-century monument of love, the Taj Mahal, with wife Melania. According to reports,17 million litres of water have been released in the river flowing behind the monument to ensure that it doesn't smell. "When the water is stagnant a smell starts to develop, so we released the water to help the circulation so that the smell disperses. Big guests are coming so our state needs to make a good impression, it is important to welcome our guests properly" Executive engineer environment department of Agra Municipal Corporation, Rajiv Rathi told a news daily.

ITC Maurya
During their visit in India, they will be staying at ultra-luxurious Chanakya Suite of ITC Maurya hotel on Sardar Patel Marg in Delhi.
