"Meri Desh Ki Dharti Sona Ugle" literally in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh! The Geological Survey Of India discovered that the district has a gold mine with 2900 tonnes as in 2630836 kg of gold which is five times the size of India's current gold reserve.
The estimated worth of that gold is a mind boggling number and that is Rs 12 Lakh Crore!
The deposits of this yellow metal were found in Son Pahadi and Hardi. The work on the mine fields had been on since 1992-1993 by GSI.
Now if the estimated worth is true, then India's gold reserve will now be just behing US, jumping to second number. The positioning sp far is that the United Statees has 8, 133.5 tonnes of gold, next is Germany with 3366 tonnes, IMF with 2814 tones, Italy with 2451.8 tonnes and France with 2,436 tonnes.
Sonbhadra is the second largest district in Uttar Pradesh. It is known for many cave painting sites found in the Vindhya region. The caves are known as the Lakhania which are located in the Kaimur Range. They are also well known for beautiful ageless rock paintings.

It has the Vijaygarh Fort which is located in the Sonbhadra district that dates back to the 5th century. This fort was built by Kol kings and is known for its exquisite cave paintings, rock carving and inscriptions.

This fort was built by Kashi kings. It is now used by government dignitaries as a guest house but it is still a tourist attraction.

If you are into religious places and sites then the Shiv Dwar is a famous temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is known for the black stone statue that dates back to the 11th-century, shown in the Srijan posture. The best time to visit this district is between November and March. and it can be reached by air, rail & road.
