1. Kapaleeswarar Temple

One of the most popular Shiva temples in Chennai is Kapaleeswarar Temple, which is devoted to Arulmigu Kapleeshwar, a form of Lord Shiva, and Goddess Karpagambal, a form of Parvati. The magnificent architecture, which was constructed by the Pallavas in the eighth century and features wood carvings, stone carvings, decorative pillars, and Gopurams (tower at the entrance gate of the temple) at the doorways, is similar to Dravidian architecture. There are six daily puja services in the temple namely, Kala Santhi (morning), Uchchikala (Mid-day) Sayamkala (Evening), and Ardhajama ( Night). This temple receives maximum crowds during big festivals like Panguni and Arubathimooval.

2. Parthasarathy Temple

Parthasarathy Temple is located at Triplicane in Chennai. his temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is one of the oldest temples in Tamil Nadu. It was constructed in the eighth century, and Alvar saints' historical writings make reference to it. There are minor shrines to Lord Narasimha, Lord Rama, and Varaha located inside the temple.

3. Ashtalakshmi Temple

Given that eight Goddesses are worshipped here, it is one of the most well-known temples in Chennai. The Ashtalakshmi temple has four floors and is situated on the Besant Nagar beach. The first floor has shrines dedicated to Goddesses Dharyalakshmi, Dhanalakshmiand, and Aadilakshmi. The second floor is for Goddess Mahalakshmi and also her husband, Lord Vishnu. The third floor has idols of Goddess Santhalakshmi, Gajalakshmi, and Vijayalakshmi.

4. Marundeeswarar Temple

Marundeeswarar is believed to be built in the 11th century and it is also believed that if you offer prayers here Lord Shiva will cure all illnesses. According to the mythological tales, Rishi Valmiki is said to have worshipped Lord Rama beneath the sacred Vanni tree, which is seen in the one expansive temple ground. It is one of Tamil Nadu's Trinity seashore temples.

5. Vadapalani Andavar Temple

One of Chennai's top tourist destinations is Lord Murugan which is dedicated to Sri Vadapalani Andavar Temple, commonly known as Vadapalani Murugan Temple. A follower of Murugan named Annaswami Nayakar had constructed the temple. The major deity or a murti in a temple is believed to bless the newlywed pair with health and prosperity, making this temple a sacred location for weddings and other religious rituals.
