Sequence of the Tragic Accident

Four 18-year-old friends went on a late-night drive that would end in tragedy. The group consisted of Jalaj Dhir, Sahil Mendha, Sarth Kaushik, and Jeden Jimmy. According to the Free Press Journal report, Sahil Mendha, who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle near the Sahara Star Hotel. The car crashed into a divider, resulting in fatal consequences.

Jeden and Sahil sustained minor injuries, while Jalaj and Sarth, seated in the back seat, were critically injured. Jalaj was initially taken to Jogeshwari East Hospital and later shifted to Kokilaben Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Jeden Jimmy provided crucial details to investigators. Sahil had consumed alcohol at a friend's place and returned to Jalaj's house by 11 pm on November 22. The group decided to drive around 3:30 am on November 23. Initially, Jeden drove the car, but Sahil took over driving in Bandra around 4:10 am. Witnesses reported that Sahil was driving at an estimated speed of 120-150 km per hour. Mumbai Police arrested Sahil based on Jeden's complaint, and blood samples have been sent for forensic testing.

Who is Ashwni Dhir?

Ashwni Dhir is a popular filmmaker known for directing films like One Two Three (2008), Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge (2010), Son Of Sardaar (2012), and Guest iin London (2017). He has also produced several television serials including Lapataganj, Chidiya Ghar, Neeli Chatri Waale, Peterson Hill, Khatmal E Ishq, and Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai. At the time of the accident, Ashwni Dhir was in Goa for the world premiere of his new film Hisaab Baradar at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The incident highlights the critical importance of responsible driving and the devastating consequences of drunk driving.
