Tamannaah Bhatia, one of India’s most loved actresses, is all set to surprise fans with a bold new role in ‘Odela 2’, far from her usual glamorous image. But at a recent press event, it was her powerful response to a surprising question that truly stole the spotlight.

Tamannaah Bhatia Responds to 'Milky Beauty' Comment

During promotions for ‘Odela 2’, a supernatural thriller where Tamannaah plays an intense, non-glamorous character, a reporter asked director Ashok Teja, “Why did you look at a ‘milky beauty’ like Tamannaah and think she could play Shiva Shakti?”

Instead of brushing it off, Tamannaah stepped in with a reply that left everyone applauding. “Your question already has the answer,” she said with a smile. “Ashok sir doesn’t see ‘milky beauty’ as something a woman should feel limited by. Glamour in a woman should be celebrated—not used to box her in. We women must first celebrate ourselves, only then can we expect others to celebrate us. If we don’t respect our own choices, how can we ask others to?”

She added, “What’s beautiful is that Ashok sir sees women as divine and divinity can be glamorous, fierce, powerful, or spiritual. A woman can be ALL these things. That’s the magic we’re bringing to Odela 2.”

Tamannaah has often been called a ‘milky beauty’ for her stunning looks and iconic dance numbers (like ‘Kavaalaa’ in ‘Jailer’). But she’s never let that define her. “Glamour is just one part of who I am,” she said. “Why should that stop me from playing a strong, spiritual, or even a dark character? Women are layered—we can be everything.”

About Odela 2

In ‘Odela 2’, Tamannaah transforms into Shiva Shakti, a mystic warrior fighting evil forces in a village. To prepare, she studied the mannerisms of sadhus (holy ascetics) to make her role authentic. “It’s my most challenging part yet,” she admitted.

The film, a sequel to ‘Odela Railway Station’, also stars Hebah Patel and a talented ensemble cast.
