Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic sea-facing home, Mannat, a favourite spot for fans and tourists in Mumbai, is about to undergo a massive transformation. Starting this May, visitors to the famous Bandstand residence will be greeted by construction activity instead of the usual glimpses of the superstar’s family. Reports suggest that Shah Rukh, his wife Gauri, and their three children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam will temporarily move to a luxurious apartment in Bandra’s Pali Hill area while the renovations are underway.

The renovation project at Mannat is no small feat. It involves significant structural changes and is expected to take around two years to complete. Last November, Gauri Khan formally sought approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to expand the Mannat annexe. The plan includes adding two more floors to the existing six-storey annexe behind the main house, increasing the built-up area by 616.02 square metres.

Since Mannat is a Grade III heritage structure, any changes require careful regulatory approval. The ambitious project, estimated to cost around Rs 25 crore, reflects the family’s commitment to preserving and enhancing this historic property.

While Mannat gets its makeover, the Khan family will be staying in style. Shah Rukh’s company, Red Chillies Entertainment, has arranged for them to live in a luxury building called Puja Casa in Pali Hill. The property, owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani’s family, will house the Khans on four of its floors. According to reports, each floor has one apartment, and while it may not be as spacious as Mannat, it offers enough room for the family, their security, and staff.

The temporary arrangement comes with a hefty price tag, Shah Rukh is reportedly paying Rs 24 lakh per month for the four floors.

Shah Rukh Khan’s love affair with Mannat began during the filming of ‘Yes Boss’ at Bandstand. Originally named Villa Vienna, the heritage building was constructed in 1914 by Nariman K Dubash. Captivated by its charm, Shah Rukh purchased the property in 2001 and turned it into one of Mumbai’s most iconic celebrity homes.

Due to its Grade III heritage status, Shah Rukh couldn’t make major changes to the main building. To accommodate his growing family while preserving the historic structure, he built the six-storey Mannat Annexe behind the original house. Now, with the upcoming renovation, the annexe will grow even further, adding more space and modern touches to this beloved home.
