Alia Bhatt Is The Newest Face Of Gucci; A Look At Indian Actors Representing Global Brands

Alia Bhatt has achieved another milestone by being the newest face of Gucci, a luxury lifestyle brand from Italy. She is not the only one from India to represent international brands. Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are on this list too.

Alia Bhatt has added another feather to her cap as international luxury brand Gucci announced that she would be the “House’s newest Global Brand Ambassador”. To mark the occasion, the brand had the actor-producer-entrepreneur posing in a grey pantsuit with the Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag.

Gucci is an Italian high-end luxury fashion house selling men's, women's and kids' wear, accessories, beauty products, handbags and décor. Its bags are known to be among the most expensive in the world.

The bag that Bhatt is carrying in the image is valued from $3,700 (₹3.03 lakh) to $5,300 (₹4.3 lakh). Congratulatory messages started to pour in as soon as the brand made the announcement on Instagram on May 11.

‘Honoured To Represent The House Of Gucci’

Taking to her Instagram, Bhatt wrote, “I’m honoured to represent the house of Gucci not only in India but on a global stage. Gucci’s legacy has always inspired and intrigued me, and I’m looking forward to the many sartorial milestones we create together.”

Ahead of the release of Bhatt’s Hollywood movie ‘Heart of the Stone’, she first made her Met Gala debut. Now, being the face of Gucci is proving the rise of another global star from India.

However, Bhatt is not the first Indian actor to be the face of an international brand. Here is a look at other Indian actors who have represented renowned brands on the global stage.

Priyanka Chopra Jonasis already a global icon who represents several international brands. In 2021, she was the global brand ambassador and a creative collaborator with Max Factor, a makeup brand.

In April 2021, Chopra became the face of Bulgari, a high-end luxurious jewellery brand. CEO Jean-Christophe Babin was quoted saying, “I’m beyond excited that Priyanka is joining our family. With her beauty, talent and humanitarian commitment, she is an inspiring role model for millions of women in the world.”

For the Met Gala 2023 appearance, Chopra accentuated her looks with a studded set from the shelves of Bulgari. Its estimated cost is around ₹200 crore.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukonehas represented international brands like L’Oreal Paris, Tissot, Coca-Cola and others.

In October 2022, Padukone became the face of Cartier, a luxury jewellery brand. While gracing the chairs of the 75th Cannes Film Festival as a jury, she made heads turn in studded jewellery from the house of Cartier.

Another international brand that benefited from Padukone’s image was Louis Vuitton. Because of the actor, the brand experienced a rise of more than 25% in its media impact value last year when Padukone’s images kept surfacing from Cannes, said a report published in The Business of Fashion. She also represents Adidas and Levi’s.

These three global icons from India are not just faces of other brands but also run their businesses on the side.
