Deepika will receive her star as part of the Class of 2026, alongside other high-profile figures such as pop star Miley Cyrus, actor Timothée Chalamet, British actress Emily Blunt, French actress Marion Cotillard, Canadian actress Rachel McAdams, Italian actor Franco Nero, and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
The honorees span multiple categories, including recordings, motion pictures, television, live theatre/live performance, and sports entertainment.
"We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026," said Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee. "These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honour them with this well-deserved recognition."
While Deepika Padukone's inclusion in the 2025 Hollywood Walk of Fame was celebrated as a first for India, history tells a different story.
Sabu Dastagir, born in 1924 in Mysore, was the true pioneer. Discovered as a teenager, he became a Hollywood sensation in the 1930s and 1940s with roles in classics like Elephant Boy, The Thief of Bagdad, and The Jungle Book. He later became a U.S. citizen and even served in World War II.
Sabu was honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star decades ago, making him the first Indian recipient, though his legacy is often overlooked in contemporary Indian pop culture.
Deepika's achievement follows the footsteps of Indian-American actor, writer, producer, and director Mindy Kaling, who received her star earlier this year. Kaling was the first South Asian woman to be honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
