Amitabh Bachchan’s Granddaughter Aaradhya Moves Delhi HC Against YouTuber For Reporting Fake News On Her Health

From her hair style to Aishwarya’s kissing her on the lips, netizens often have a lot to say about her. This time, Aaradhya has taken the route of law and filed a complaint against several entities for reporting fake news on her health.

Aaradhya Bachchan, the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and daughter of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, has moved the Delhi High Court against a YouTube channel for reporting fake news on her health. In a hearing a day later on April 20, the court has asked the accused to take down the videos in question with immediate effect and block access to the same as well as take down any such video in future if circulated on the platform.

Delhi HC Rules In Favour Of Aaradhya Bachchan

The Delhi High Court noted that the plaintiff in this case is "... not only a public figure but here it's a child." The court has also told Google and YouTube that "When there is a video circulating that the child is dead when she is alive and kicking, that means you are not seeing the content. This is not a defamation issue here… there is misleading information which is defamatory and misleading information which says that someone is dead. YouTube does not run for charity, it is profit-making platform. If you are making money out of what you are doing, you have a social responsibility."

The court also asked the entities in question the reason of not having some policy for such matters and to look after misinformation being circulated on the platform.

Aaradhya Bachchan Moves Delhi HC

The 11-year-old has sought an injunction against such reportage by the media about her since she is a minor. As per media reports, the petition filed by Aaradhya has asked as many as 10 entities to “de-list and deactivate all videos” that feature the fake reportage on her health. The entities accused in the case also include Google LLC and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Grievance Cell).

Anand and Naik, the law firm through which the petition has been filed, has said in a statement, “The defendants' sole motivation is to unlawfully profit from the reputation of the Bachchan family, irrespective of the damage-causing to the plaintiffs and their family members.”

The complainant also mentioned in the plea that such videos with fake news breaches the privacy of the plaintiff which is in violation fo the IT Rules 2021 and theintellectual property rights which lies with the Bachchan family including copyright in images and pictures of the complainant.

However, the Bachchan family has not made any statement about the case in the media yet.

Abhishek Bachchan And Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Marriage

The Bollywood couple tied the knot in April 2007 in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence, Prateeksha, in Juhu, Mumbai. They welcomed their daughter Aradhya in 2011. Aaradhya is a student of Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai.

Recently, Abhishek slammed netizens for constantly attacking his daughter on social media. In an interview, he said, “While it’s completely unacceptable and something that I will not tolerate. I’m a public figure that’s fine, my daughter is out of bounds. If you have anything to say, come and say it to my face.”
