In the winter season, developing dry skin and lips is common with the cold air playing its role in full blast. Our skin loses its moisture and glow. Sameer Khan, Manager and Senior Hair Expert, from Get Set Unisex Salon says that for women in their 30s, the season can bring to fore its share of additional problems such as dull and saggy skin, wrinkles, fine lines’ appearance, and so on. Plus, the conditions usually get worse for those having naturally dry or highly sensitive skin.

Here are a few effective tips by Sameer Khan, to help 30-something aged women deal with their skincare issues during the winter:

To get rid of the freezing chill, it may be apparently tempting to take a hot shower every day. However, remember that it does no good to your skin. It is wise to use lukewarm water instead; apply moisturizer immediately after taking bath in order to prevent the skin from drying.

It is a common myth that sunscreen is only for the summers! This is too far from the truth. During the winter months, one needs to protect her skin from the UV rays of the Sun too. So, must apply a broad-range SPF to the face and hands at least 30 minutes before moving out of your home.

Another quick tip is to keep a lip balm handy at all times (especially when going out).

Wear gloves and full-length cotton garments to protect your body parts from exposure as much as possible. Avoid woolen clothes if it irritates your skin. Also, remove wet and/or sweaty clothes as early as possible.

Do not forget to put moisturizers and glycerin-based creams on your hands and feet (apart from the face area). Also, try to use an antioxidant serum along with your moisturiser.

While exfoliation is crucial for healing dry skin, do not overdo it during the winters. Exfoliate gently with a liquid scrubber, not more than twice a week.

As a matter of fact, moisturising and cleansing are to be seen as the two important pillars of your winter skincare regime. Using a moisturizer (preferably oil or gel-based) regularly shall keep the skin nourished and provide it the necessary amount of extra bit of hydration required during the winter, while a smooth cleanser/face wash will help in removing the impurities that trigger further skin allergies. You can also apply alcohol-free skin toners sometimes (especially if pores are to be removed).

Eat a lot of seasonal fruits like grapes and berries, as these consist of vitamins and antioxidants required for your skin to survive the cold weather.
