Bid your farewell to the smudged kajal! We are here with some expert tips from Ayesha Sanghi, Beauty Content Creator, to make your kajal long-lasting and smudge-proof. Incorporate these makeup tips into your routine to master flawless application and all-day beauty.
Ayesha said, “Raccoon eyes aren’t just about dark circles! It’s also that dreaded feeling you get when you glance at your reflection in the mirror and realise your kajal has leaked out of your waterline and has most definitely created black smudgy rings in your under eyes. So here are a few tips to make sure your kajal lasts all day (or night) and won’t smudge or bleed at all!”
6 Expert Tips For Long-lasting And Smudge-proof Kajal
1. Choosing The Kajal
“Choosing a kajal that’s waterproof and long lasting is the foundation of the look and if that itself isn’t dependable, it definitely won’t be passing the test. Gel formulas work really well as long lasting kajal even if you have watery eyes,” said Sanghi.
2.Apply It Right!
Ayesha explained, “Application is everything here so make sure you don’t apply too much and you focus the kajal on the inner part of your waterline. If you apply a lot on the outer edge that’s close to your lash line, it will most likely start to leak out.”
3. Setting With Eyeshadow
If you set the kajal with a black eyeshadow powder, this will ensure it’s extra black and striking and also lasts much longer. “Just use a small brush to pat on the black eyeshadow along your waterline on top of the kajal,” said Ayesha.

4. Set Your Undereyes
“A lot of smudged kajal is less about the kajal and more about having oily skin under your eyes to which the kajal transfers easily. You can use any set powder or loose powder to set the area - just pat or dust it on,” said Sanghi.
5. Touch Ups
Sanghi mentioned, “Be prepared for touch ups! Even the most masterful kajal application needs a bit of help a few hours in. So if you can, load up one side of a double sided Q tip with powder. This way you can use the clean side to wipe away any smudges and the powder side to even it out after.”
6. Avoid Touching
“And last but not least - don’t touch! We’ve all seen those memes of a girl rubbing her eyes only to remember a little too late that she had eye makeup on... Touching will definitely cause your kajal to leak, smudge and spread and not to mention all the potential bacteria you might be getting in your eyes too!” concluded Ayesha Sanghi.
