We often don't pay attention to our hair from the roots and when we do, we back out from the amount it costs at a parlour especially for a hair spa. As a solution to your troubles, we have come up with some cool tips that will guide you through washing your hair the right way to hair conditioning to handling wet hair and detangling. Which one have you been skipping?
Shampoo Technique
Quit Washing Your Hair Every Day!
If you are trying to get rid of dandruff then for a brief period washing your hair every day is okay, but otherwise, you have to quit washing every day because that damages your hair. It is enough to wash it twice or thrice a week. However, if you have dry hair then wash it once every four days.
Use Lukewarm Water
Never wash your hair with cold water. The water temperature should always be neither too hot not too cold. Also, if you notice that there is not much lather during the first wash, then it is an indication that your hair is dirty. So, go ahead wash it again, you will feel squeaky clean.
Brush Hair Before Washing
Always brush your hair before shampoo. This decreases the chances of tangles and hair breakage especially if you have brittle tresses. Surprised? We are sure you are. But yes, you need to brush your hair before you step into the shower. This will decrease the chances of tangles while you are shampooing, thus preventing hair breakage.
Limit Use Of Hair Care Products
Yes, it looks all so good online, while shopping but so many hair products like mousses, gels and hair sprays ruin your hair. The reason behind this is that they tend to build up on your hair and scalp, clogging your pores. This leads to a lot of hair fall.
Keep Showers Short
It sounds soothing etc but it is important to take short showers. The longer your hair remains wet, the more breakable and fragile it becomes.
Take Right Amount Of Shampoo
No, more shampoo does not mean it is better or good. Why? Because it strips your hair off the natural oils it possesses. This oil is what protects your locks against dust, pollution and damage.
Steam Hair Before Shampoo
The pores of your scalp may be clogged with oil and dirt, therefore it is good to steam your hair before going for a thorough wash. Soak a towel in hot water and wring out the excess water. Next, wrap it around your head and leave it like that for over 20 minutes before showering.
Massage Steamed Hair
After steaming your hair, massage your scalp gently with your fingers for a few minutes. This helps in getting rid of all the dirt that has accumulated in your pores.
Use Paraben, SLS Free Shampoo
Most shampoos on the counter are not SLS free. What is that? These are sulphate-free shampoos. While parabens are added as a preservative, SLS is responsible for lathering. Both these chemicals cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Also, as per studies, these ingredients can be carcinogenic and can also cause major eye damage. So, better choose organic shampoos!

Hair Conditioning Tips
Condition With Oil Before Shower
Massage in some hair oil to condition and moisturise your hair. You can use almond, coconut, or olive oil at least one hour before head wash. Nourish your hair, make it smoother, glossier, and frizz-free hair.
Towel Dry Before Conditioning
To get fuss-free and smooth hair, you have to towel dry before conditioning. I know it is a bit tedious but it is beneficial for your hair. Even after the shampoo, wrap a towel around your head to soak up all the excess water. Then apply a conditioner. This will easily prevent it from frizzing up.
Check On Conditioner Quantity
Apply the right amount of conditioner, otherwise, your hair will look super greasy.
Do Not Apply It On Scalp
If you do so, your scalp pores will be clogged and lead to hair fall and reduced hair growth.
Deep Condition Every Two Weeks
In case you have curly hair, you must deep condition them every 2 weeks. TWhy? Because curly hair tends to dry up quickly.
