These days COVID masks are a must no matter who and where you are. It is not just advised but it is now mandatory especially since the day WHO announced that coronavirus may be airborne now in some places. However, there are a few pointers that must be kept in mind when you wear these masks. The masks you wear may trap oil and sweat deposits from the skin or cause a collection of stale breath in the mask. So check out these tips to save your skin from allergies and more.
Cotton material is considered to be the best for masks. These allow ventilation and trap less moisture which builds up due to sweating and breathing. Avoid wearing masks made from synthetic materials. The mask you invest in should fit well to provide adequate protection, but it should not be too tight. You can and must wash your cotton mask after wearing it and dry them in the sun and the reuse.

Wearing a mask for long hours, while being outdoors, in the sun, can also lead to partial tanning of the skin. It can add to some discolouration and make your skin patchy. You will also notice a difference in colour on the skin in the mask area and your face otherwise. Tanning is inevitable which is why one needs to carry out treatments that help to produce an even colour tone.

Home Remedies
Haldi

Facial Scrubbing
Using a facial scrub helps to remove tan too. For those with dry skin, a scrub should be used only once a week, but if you have oily skin, you may scrub thrice a week. Apply the scrub and rub it gently on the skin in small circular movements. Wash it off with plain water. This helps in removing dead skin cells, along with their contained pigment. You will notice that your skin has become brighter and the tanning has faded.
Ground Almonds
Ground almonds make a good facial scrub. Add a little curd or cold milk to 2 teaspoons ground almonds and rub the mixture gently on the skin. Wash it off with water.

In addition to these tips, cleansing the skin at night is most important. Make a night routine for yourself by taking out time for your skin right before going to bed. In the day time apply a cream that also soothes the skin. We recommend mixing a sandalwood cover cream with a moisturiser and applying it before wearing the mask.
Do not wear your mask constantly. Remove the mask whenever you are on your own, or while driving your car, especially an air-conditioned car.
