Delhi has turned into a gas chamber with an apocalyptic haze settling down around the city. The haze blanket in the Thursday, October 2, 2023 sky was so thick that it resembled a smog on winter morning. The extent of it was such that even buildings across the road were barely visible due to the smog and lack of visibility.
Many parts of Delhi have recorded their air quality index in the alarming hazardous zone as on Thursday, November 2, 2023. This was made worse by a persistent smoky haze making a blanket around the city for the third consecutive day.
As per the weather forecast from the agency Air Pollution In India (aqicn.org) measured the air quality index in Delhi, Anand Vihar is at a staggering 999, while Noida’s Sector 62 area logged it at 469. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in many locations across Delhi was above the 500 mark, according to the aqicn.org.
With a surge in the farm fires and the unfavourable climate conditions in Delhi, scientists are cautioning people about an anticipated rise in levels of pollution in the Delhi-NCR region in the forthcoming two weeks.
