Netflix is gearing up for the release of its first original medical drama, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. Starring Ju Ji-hoon as Baek Gang-hyeok, a maverick trauma surgeon, the South Korean series will hit the platform on January 24, 2025. The team released a trailer recently, a week after a teaser was dropped. Both the clips were pretty interesting, giving ample glimpses into what the show will offer its viewers.
The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Trailer Shows Ju Ji-hoon in His Maverick best
In the trailer of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, we see how a struggling, unpopular, and underfunded severe trauma team at a university hospital gets rejuvenated upon the arrival of Dr. Baek Gang-hyeok, their new director. Confident, genius and smart best describe the trauma surgeon. Having worked in war zones across the world, the maverick doctor knows exactly what to do in emergencies.
Throughout the trailer, we see hospital authorities expressing their concern over his way of working but are also sure he will pull through and that too pretty successfully. Initially reluctant to welcome him, the trauma team eventually understands and accepts Dr. Baek Gang-hyeok as their boss.

Netflix describes the protagonist, "Genius surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk has insanely high medical skills and an ego to match. To create a top-tier trauma center, the war-seasoned doctor arrives — bringing his blunt but skilled ways to transform his team into life-saving mavericks." From this description and the trailers released so far, we do get House vibes, but let's just hope the medical drama stands apart and justifies the hype it has created.

Based on webtoon titled Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call also stars Choo Young-woo and Ha Young. While Young-woo's character is Yang Jae-won, Young plays Cheon Jang-mi.
From what we know, Yang Jae-won will be Gang-hyeok's first protege. A top scholar student, he is a nerdy and methodical fellow and is the opposite of Gang-hyeok. Meanwhile, Young's character Cheon Jang-mi is that of a responsible nurse who balances the dynamics.
The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, which will reportedly have eight episodes, hits Netflix on January 24, 2025.
