Ahead of its Netflix premiere on April 4, 2025, makers dropped the first trailer of TEST. Having noted actors like R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth in lead roles, the sports drama has created quite a buzz since its announcement. And the promotional clip shows why fans have such high anticipation. Tight performances, a solid story, and a well-placed tease are how we can describe TEST trailer. Here's more on it.
TEST: What Does The Trailer Show?
The trailer for TEST, lasting a little over 2:50 minutes, starts with Kumudha Saravanan (Nayanthara) introducing her husband Saravanan "Sara" (R. Madhavan) to her childhood friend, Arjun (Siddharth). The palpable tension between the couple can be felt right from the first frame, when Kumudha tells Arjun that Saravanan runs a canteen because, in reality, the latter is an ambitious scientist developing a fuel cell stack technology but is struggling to get government approval.
Apart from this financially sticky situation, Kumudha's deep wish to be a mother is also driving a wedge between her and Saravanan. That's because he isn't fully invested in the idea but bearing a child is very important for Kumudha at this stage.
Further, as per her doctor, it's Kumudha's last chance to conceive since the gynaecological treatment she was on bore results after a long nine months.
Meanwhile, Arjun is a gifted cricketer who plays the game out of sheer love. The character's dedication to the bat and ball sport is well established by Siddharth's intense eyes and expressions. Meera Jasmine, who plays his partner Padma Arjun, returns to Tamil cinema after a decade. Her character graph wasn't much understood.

TEST Trailer:Saravanan, Kumudha, Arjun's Fates Tied Together
As the TEST trailer progresses, we understand there's a high-profile cricket match happening between India and Pakistan. It's the final test match between the nations, which Arjun feels compelled to play because it's crucial for him on a personal level. He gets a call from government officials, asking him to "fix" his play. This is where we get a whiff of Saravanan's involvement.
The plot gets more profound when it's shown that Saravanan, in a desperate bid to secure money for his science project and save his marriage simultaneously, lowers his moral compass and probably places bets on Arjun's match. Kumudha of course learns about this eventually but how this affects the dynamics between the three is something S. Sashikanth's directorial debut will offer when it releases on Netflix.
Must admit, the film's title is pretty apt given that all three characters are facing the test of their lives, who can be straightaway called a hero or a villain in the end. But they are risking it all as the stakes are high.
TEST, starring R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, will be released exclusively on Netflix on April 4, 2025, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
