Kannada cinema lovers and thriller series enthusiasts are in for a treat as the ‘Dynamic Prince’ Vijay Raghavendra is all set to make his much-awaited digital debut. The psychological crime thriller series ‘Raakshasa’ is to be shot against the picturesque backdrop of North Karnataka, and the series is expected to be a much-awaited addition to the Kannada OTT originals. The series is being produced by the renowned filmmaker Tharun Sudheer.
You can watch Rakshasa on ZEE5 starting on February 20, 2026. The creators of the show announced it on social media, calling it a landmark series centred on the culture of North Karnataka.
The central character of the series is Sub-Inspector Hanmappa. He is a hardworking and honest cop who is investigating a series of puzzling deaths around the Yellamma temple in Savadatti. The villagers initially believe that the deaths are caused by attacks from crocodiles, but soon they realise that there is more to it than they think. As the fear grips the villagers and the dead bodies are found in strange ways, the judgment of the people gets clouded with superstitions and traditional beliefs. What begins as a simple wildlife investigation turns into a terrifying psychological issue. Hanmappa has to navigate through a tough world where crime, religion, and fear all intersect. It is a story of the conflict between scientific investigation and strong religious convictions, which lands the central character in a moral and emotional dilemma. The trailer gives you a glimpse into enough to make you curious about the film. It suggests that the story has a complex plot with a lot of suspense, silence, and unanswered questions.
The Kannada film stars Vijay Raghavendra in the lead role and Mayuri Kyatari, Appanna Ramadurga, Avinash, Jahangir MS, Abhijith, Hulugappa Kattimani, Mahadev Hadapad and Sushmita Jagappa.
Rippan Swamy, a thriller film directed by Kishor Mudubidire, was the last film of the actor. Ashwini Chandrashekar, Prakash Thuminad, Vajradheer Jain, and Yamuna Srinidhi were some of the key actors.
