What Is Netflix’s New Homepage Update?

Have you browsed and scrolled through multiple Netflix shows and movies for hours without actually finding what you want to watch? Well, this is called decision fatigue. Netflix’s aim with this new update is to eliminate decision fatigue for viewers and ensure they get exactly what they want to watch. Here are the new features of Netflix’s new update:

• Easier Access: Navigation will be easier for viewers with multiple shortcuts to Search, Shows, Movies, Games, and My Netflix, which will all be on top of the screen for easy access.

• New Algorithm: Much like Instagram, Netflix is now coming out with its very own algorithm which will help you ‘find what you want, when you want it’. The more you watch and engage with new shows and movies, the more you’ll get new recommendations tailored perfectly for you in real time. Your homepage will adjust your recommendations as per your browsing and viewing history. 

• My Netflix Hub: For more personalisation, the update comes along with a ‘My Netflix Hub’ tab which has the accumulated information of where you left off on that show, what you plan to watch next, the Continue Watching tab, My List, and Remind Me.

• Descriptive Titles: This new update will also allow viewers to choose between a show or movie by providing a much more detailed synopsis under each title. As per Netflix’s official website, you can also “preview a title’s synopsis, runtime, award wins, Top 10 history, or key cast all up front while you browse.”
