Our Universe Ending Explained: The Korean rom-com ‘Our Universe’ ends with an emotional finale that focuses on family, love, and responsibility. The story follows Woo Hyun-jin (played by Roh Jeong-eui) and Seon Tae-hyung (played by Bae In-hyuk), two in-laws who suddenly find themselves raising their orphaned nephew, Woo-ju, after a family tragedy.
At first, the two struggle with the unexpected responsibility of caring for a child. But as they spend more time together, their bond grows stronger and slowly turns into love. By the time the finale arrives, the story centres on whether they can truly become a family and secure Woo-ju’s future. Here’s a breakdown of the Our Universe’s ending and what it means for the characters.
One of the most satisfying moments (for me) in the finale is when Woo Hyun-jin and Seon Tae-hyung finally confirm their feelings for each other. For most of the drama, both characters hesitate to act on their emotions. Their priority is Woo-ju and the responsibility of raising him. There are also misunderstandings and a love triangle that complicate things.
In the final episodes, Hyun-jin realises that Tae-hyung is the person she truly trusts and cares about. She clears up the situation with the second male lead and admits her feelings. Tae-hyung also reassures her that he is not leaving and wants to stay with her and Woo-ju.

Their confession leads to a heartfelt moment where they finally make their relationship official and openly accept that they want to build a life together.
The main climax in the final episode of ‘Our Universe’ revolves around Woo-ju’s guardianship. A legal investigation raises concerns about whether Hyun-jin can continue raising him. There is a real fear that Woo-ju might be taken away and placed with another relative or even in foster care. This possibility deeply worries both Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung.

The situation becomes emotional when the couple briefly lose sight of Woo-ju in a park, reminding them how much he means to them. In the end, the court’s investigation concludes positively. Hyun-jin remains Woo-ju’s legal guardian, and Tae-hyung continues supporting them. The drama hints that the couple may even consider marriage in the future to make their family legally secure. By the finale, the three are living together and raising Woo-ju as a happy family.
‘Our Universe’ ends on a happy and heart-warming note. While the last episode of ‘Our Universe’ includes tense moments involving the custody issue, the story ultimately resolves in a positive way. Hyun-jin keeps custody of Woo-ju, and Tae-hyung chooses to stay with them instead of returning to his old life.

The final scenes show the three characters spending time together like a normal family. Their journey from strangers forced to co-parent to people who genuinely love and support one another, comes full circle.
As of now, there has been no official announcement about whether ‘Our Universe’ will have a season 2. The drama concludes its main story clearly, which makes it feel like a complete series. The central conflict between raising Woo-ju and building a family is resolved by the end.
