No matter which season of ‘Bigg Boss’ is airing on television or OTT, it is bound to make headlines and for all the wrong reasons in most cases. The show is infamous for bringing on-board contestants with a chequered past or problematic behaviour. Whether it was Shalin Bhanot in ‘Bigg Boss’ season 16 or Jad Hadid in season two of the OTT.

Some of the contestants never fail to disgust the audience with their actions or statements. Hadid is in the news, and none of the reasons are good.

A video has been going viral on social media, where the Dubai-based influencer can be seen asking actor Akanksha Puri the colour of her innerwear. She shut him up but looked uncomfortable during the conversation.

A person tweeted they initially thought Hadid was indulging in healthy flirting, but he had crossed all the limits. The images show that he had touched female contestants inappropriately.

Reportedly, there was a task in which contestants had to kiss. Hadid and Puri kissed each other, after which he started telling everyone that she was not a good kisser. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Puri, who recently got evicted, said that she did not want to indulge in an affectionate kiss with Hadid.

She added that Hadid wanted it to be like a passionate kiss between two consenting adults. The actor said she felt uncomfortable and did not reciprocate.

Reacting to his comment on her being a bad kisser, Puri said that it was a task that she had to finish in 30 seconds and not a scene from a movie, where a director was there to instruct her about the scene.

It looks like the influencer does not understand the concept of consent (How To Provide Sex Education To Kids At Early Stage) and it showcases how problematic his nature is.

A joke was going on in the house, which soon turned into an uncomfortable situation. Manisha told Hadid jokingly that her kiss costs ₹5 lakhs, but she would give him free of cost. However, as soon as she realised that people were hooting not for a peck on the cheek but a kiss that happens between partners, she backed off.

She said that kissing in India is a big deal. Hadid said that he preferred a French kiss because it was his way of kissing the soul of a person. He surely has mastered the art of predator-turning-into-a-victim when a woman says 'no'.

Why Jad Hadid Needs To Be Reprimanded For Being Himself

Hadid has crossed every boundary in the house, yet he is standing strong among the contestants. ‘Bigg Boss’ has portrayed many men and problematic narratives on the screen before too, but Hadid’s actions convey that it is acceptable for men to abuse women in the name of chivalry and content for television.

Such narratives are left at the viewer’s discretion. People debate on social media, hurl abuse at people like him, and it becomes a lost cause after a few days. As long as the show keeps bringing sexist (AI Depicted Sexist Indian Scenes), misogynist, and male-chauvinists, the show is going to maintain its popularity. But at what cost?

The current portrayal of ‘Bigg Boss' is showing female contestants in uncomfortable situations, being touched inappropriately, and male contestants asking them for a kiss on national television. Is this what we are calling entertainment these days? Have we become tone-deaf to harassment of women in the name of garnering TRPs?

We can only hope that the channel takes against Hadid, but if we take any reference from history, the show is going to continue feeding its viewers such downgrading episodes in the years to come.
